I've had PrismTV for about a month. One of the disappointing things was that RF remotes were not included with the receivers. I figured one main reason to have a wireless set-top box would be to hide it behind the TV; thus, needing a RF remote to control it. The day after I got it installed, I stopped by a local CTL store to buy some RF remotes. The salesperson was also generous to give me a buy-2-get-1-free discount. I've tried many times to pair them up with the DVR and wireless boxes with minor success. I was able to pair it on a wireless box, but the pairing failed after a few days, and I haven't been able to pair it again since.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks that might help to get the RF pairing to work? The DVR is inside a media cabinet, so it's rather annoying to have to keep the cabinet door open to watch TV.
DVR: IPH8005
Wireless boxes: ISB7005
Thanks in advance.

Actiontec PK5000a Had to reboot TWICE this week
I had to reboot on Monday. I had to reboot it this morning. Internet pages get real slow or won't load. The numbers on the DSL status page NEVER MOVES. They ALWAYS say the same numbers. Any problems with these modem/routers or what could the problem be?

[Embarq] New modem router...speeds seem up and down a lot more
I was having issues with my Zyxel 660 modem. So I contacted tech support. They said my modem was out of date and end of service.(weird it happened on a Friday night).
They sent me this new modem/wireless router. It works fine. But the speed on it ALWAYS says 11.76 Down and .996 UP. Never changes. Yet my internet speed is rubber banding like crazy. Just thought I would shut out here first.
Joey has always been honest when I asked him questions.

Intermittent DSL problems
I have have intermittent DSL problems for quite some time. On a good day, my download speeds are around the 20 mbps I paid for, on bad days I get anywhere from .56 to 11 mbps. Yesterday, my pings were around 350 ms and I have seen them go up to 4500 ms. I have new wiring to and from the demarc, and DSL is on a separate circuit. I know my DSLAM port has been changed at least once.
I am currently using a C1000A in bridge mode and before that, I had a Q1000 in bridge mode. I have an ASUS router and before that, I had a DLink router (CL told me once the problem was my router, but I found that hard to believe).
I have called CL a couple of times, but I am not really getting anywhere. They are now going to send out a tech for the 5th or 6th time.
I'm not sure if the problem is something that can be fixed... if it's a problem in my neighborhood, or if I should move on and get cable.
I had trouble logging into the C1000A after it was in bridge mode, so I reset it today and took the included screenshot.
I'd appreciate it if anyone would have any suggestions for me.

Can only get half of advertised speeds because of line loop?
This was a few months ago but I just started thinking about it again and got curious.
I was on a 6 Mbps plan and could never get the full speed. I live a ways away from the CO but still close enough I should be able to get a full 6Mbps no problem. After much troubleshooting and getting no where I had a tech come out. He tested the lines for a good 2 hours and told me the local loop is too long to actually get the advertised speed, so he dropped me down to 3.5 so I wasn't paying for what I couldn't get. He did tell me that he is on the same loop as me and lives right across the street from the CO and can only get the 3.5 Mbps like me. The local loop goes on for 26 spans apparently.
My question is why does the overall loop length matter if i'm close enough to the CO to get that advertised speed? I always thought phone lines went from the CO straight to your house and the speeds you could get depended on the exact distance from the CO. Can someone explain to me how this works?

Zyxel or Technicolor for CL VDSL2 40/5 service?
Just recently moved into an area where CL has 40/5mbs service, and decided to give it a shot as I'm so fed up with comcast's service. Needless to say, service so far is amazing *knock on wood*. Speeds are very consistent and close to advertised speeds. My concern is the modem, I have an Actiontec C1000A. It's been pretty good so far, had a couple retrains. Having worked in the IT field for awhile, I'm very very leery about having an Actiontec modem.
I host my own email, a few websites, DNS, and some VPN for myself so modem reliability is crucial to me and I'm willing to shell out the money for a good modem.
I've read on here that the Zyxel C1000Z and the Technicolor C2000T are very good options, but was curious to see if anyone had any advice on how these 2 compare to each other?
I've attached screenshots from the DSL info page from my C1000A.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

WiFi problems with Century Link
We've had CL service for 7 years. Our wifi connections worked fine until recently. Connections are now sporadic or non existant. Wifi usually works on the laptop but not on an Ipad2 or iPhone 5s. Repairman came out twice they replaced the modem/router both times. Wifi service did not improve. The modem is an ActionTec. Do I need to buy a better modem or what is the solution to reliable wifi?

[CenturyTel] Westell 7500 + bridge mode + AirPort Time Capsule working for you?
I just got a new Mac + a 3TB Airport Time Capsule. I'm on CenturyLink DSL and have one of their Westell 7500s (A90-75002207) modem/routers. I haven't been happy with the wifi service from that box so I wanted to disable its wifi and use Time Capsule's.
I figured this would just mean disabling wireless on the 7500, configuring it into bridge mode, and then having Time Capsule do DHCP + NAT.
Parts 1 and 2 I managed fine. Verified that bridge mode was working using a direct Ethernet connection between the 7500 and my Mac, Internet connection fine, ifconfig showing that my Mac's IP address was the former WAN IP on embarqhsd.net.
Then I plugged Time Capsule into the 7500, connected my Mac to it via Ethernet, and fired up AirPort Utility to set everything up. And absolutely could not get Time Capsule to work as a network router. It started out in bridge mode, passing the WAN IP to my Mac. So I set "Network - DHCP and NAT". AirPort Utility complained about Double NAT, even though the 7500 was in bridge mode. I entered "Ignore" to make the complaint go away, but couldn't manage to get wi-fi devices to connect to the Internet via Time Capsule.
Eventually I gave up, reset the 7500 to routed mode, and went back through the whole Time Capsule configuration, once again getting the Double NAT complaint & hitting "ignore". Finally that resulted in a working wi-fi router that my devices are able to use to connect to the Internet.
What puzzles me is why Time Capsule failed with the 7500 in bridge mode. I'd be willing to give it one more try if anyone else out there has managed to get this setup working.

DSL wont stop shutting off
Recently my DSL has been shutting off a lot. I hook my laptop to the router and view my system log. it reads "DHCP release IP address" and exactly a second later "WAN physical link down".
I'm trying to narrow down what the problem could be so I can communicate this to the tech that is supposed to be coming tomorrow.

[CenturyTel] Slow upload speeds
Hi. I am looking for some guidance and suggestions on troubleshooting uploads from my CenturyLink DSL service. I currently have the 20meg download service, and downloads seem to be fine. It is when I am trying to upload that I am having trouble. My top speed for uploading files to a friend is 600K. It doesn't matter if I do one or ten, the combined top speed is 600k. I have disabled everything (I will try this again as you never know) including disabling the wifi radio on my router, and still am limited to 600k. I have done this from different devices, and still not getting any where.
What is really odd is when I go and do the CenturyLink speed test which I think is through Ookla, I am getting 3 to 6 meg upload speeds. I figured Ookla was just upstream to my DSL connection point, so I went to a couple of other test points with Ookla, and still getting 3 to 6 meg.
Thoughts, suggestions?

Centrylink termination box (customer side)
I ran cable out to "the box" as my home wiring is pretty old and not in the right place....
I bought the line recommend for phone line use with high speed internet 200ft connectors already put on. So now I look in "the box" and there are four paired slots for individual wires then there is one slot that fits my connector just fine.
Other than the fact that the box wont close now and I'll need to figure something out... but modem wont connect up.

C1000A New Firmware
I see that there is new firmware available for the C1000A. I am using a C1000Z now but have a C1000A on standby. Does the new firmware list attenuation and loop length available? Old firmware listed attenuation and loop length as N/A. Just wondering.

New and have questions (bonded DSL)
Hello all,
I live North of Orlando in the Sorrento, Florida area, we currently have 10MBPS DSL and using the speedtest.net site I typically get just below 8.00 to 8.11 download and 0.76 upload speeds.
Recently I became aware of a bonded DSL line, the customer service rep said it requires a tech to hook it up, a new modem and I should see double my current speeds.
I have seen the modem chart:
http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/modem-compatibility-table-ctl.html
is it correct to assume with a bonded DSL setup that only the modems shown that have specs under the "bonded" heading are one's that can be used?
I know I have to either rent the modem or buy it, and I have read where people buy their own online.
Would I be better off to get the bonded 15 MBPS service and see what modem they give me before getting my own?
I see a lot of posts on here where people are getting the 40/5 speeds, is this where they use fiber optic? The fastest speed available here is 15/1.5
Do all the Centurylink modems for the Bonded DSL include wireless capability?
A tech that was at my home the other day told me probably within a year or so they will be running fiber optic to the box out front of our community and higher speeds as well as Prizm TV will be available, but no idea when, we were looking into the bonded line as my step daughter will be working from home and needs 1.5 upload, we have a separate line for her, but I was thinking of upgrading to the higher speed for my line as well
Thanks

Email: Your Home Is Ready for Even Faster Internet!
Says I can get 20mbps... Now what does this mean? It has to be VDSL2+ right? And if so would I also be able to get 40mbps bonded? I called them but it is not in their system yet and they told me to check back in a week. Does it normally take a week after receiving the email?

[Prism TV] Bring-your-own set-top-box?
Hi everyone,
My mother's house is eligible for CenturyLink's gigabit internet service. By itself, it's pretty pricey ($151/mo), but with Prism TV, it's only $80. I have another thread discussing CLink's FTTH service in general (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29653841-CenturyLink-Gigabit-and-Prism-TV-questions-speed-CPE-etc.-), but this question pertains specifically to Prism, so I thought I'd post it separately.
After extensive googling and asking in the other thread, I learned that the STBs that CL uses for Prism are similar (or the same) to ATT UVerse. I found a thread here (that I can't find at the moment) where someone asked if it was possible to use a customer-provided box identical to CL's equipment. A CL rep replied to email him, and the the OP never indicated what happened.
UVerse STBs are ridiculously cheap on eBay. I'm more interested in being able to put a larger drive in a DVR than in trying to save in fees/etc.
Does anyone know if CL will let you use your own STB?
Thanks!

[Prism TV] Prism and Dsl keep dropping
What are everyone's thoughts on prism and dsl together, I like the concept but real life experience so far has been very poor. With just having a tech come out 11/5 and the next day and ever since has gotten worse chatting with prism support the soonest i could get another tech is 11/30, pretty rediculous.
Over the last 3 months since switching to prism and dsl with centurylink there has been non stop dropping of service where prism will freeze at minutes at times and the internet will not connect showing the red internet light on the gateway.
I have had 4 different techs come out with changing the actiontec c2000a to technicolor 2000t to another technicolor c2000t, also new line from nid to pedestal, new dedicated dsl line as well since internet drops and prism freezes and skips recording. I am at the point where I want to dump these services and switch back to cox--poor customer service so far.
I have 20/2 dsl, 20/2 prism pair bonded
