Streaming services are poor during evening times

I have a 25/2 package that runs 25/2 at all times(via speedtest, ookla, CL test, comcast... If I run testmy.net it will peak at 14 down and average 10...). The local tech and I got the FEC RS errors to a very small amount... maybe 0-10 in 30 minutes. Both lines are at 14-15 SNR down and 12-13 SNR up with great attenuation. So after all this hard work I thought we got the streaming services fixed. During the day xbox will pull up to a 1MB/s and I can run 1080p services no issue. Last night started around 8pm Netflix bitrate was only running at about 256-320 kbps. I also snapped netflix while checking the xbox one bandwidth and it only shows the xbox pulling between 50kB/s to 256kB/s. I will also get a buffering issue where the video will be playing and all of a sudden it will start counting from 1% slowing to 100%. I also get similar issue with the PS3. Youtube... I can't run 720p only 480p. Gaming isn't an issue. Pings are consistently nice 20-30 ms. During this time I tested via a PC directly to modem and had the exact issues. I thought at first is was the internet(at least to the DSLAM)... got that cleared off the slate. Then I thought it was the wifi. Did a lot of changes to the wifi and got all wifi devices to run 50-80ms latency with at least 20 down out of 25.. OK great! But again the streaming issues still persist. I've also tried different DNS servers, no luck... Anyone else having issues with streaming services in the evening times?

Hi Everyone, I recently moved out of Centurylink territory & canceled my account, but notice that my Q.com email address still works. Does anybody know how long the email address is supposed to continue working before it's "deleted" or how long it continued to work before it just stopped working? Thanks

[Embarq] New modem router...speeds seem up and down a lot more

I was having issues with my Zyxel 660 modem. So I contacted tech support. They said my modem was out of date and end of service.(weird it happened on a Friday night). They sent me this new modem/wireless router. It works fine. But the speed on it ALWAYS says 11.76 Down and .996 UP. Never changes. Yet my internet speed is rubber banding like crazy. Just thought I would shut out here first. Joey has always been honest when I asked him questions.

Centurytel is blocking some of my NON spam email

Two of my friends cannot send email to my CenturyTel account. I cannot correct it by listing them in the always allow these email addresses because the email never gets that far. The only way I even know the friends sent email is when they call to tell me. It appears that Centurytel has tightened their spam checks, but how do you find out what those checks are and modify them? I refuse to spend hours on the phone trying to get the problem fixed and may just switch to gmail. If you know of another solution, please let me know.

[Qwest] Avoid CenturyLink

It probably depends on the area, but here's my story. I had CenturyLink for ~1 year when things went hell for no reason, at least not on my end. Nothing had changed in terms of setup on my end, and yet my ping was atrocious. No matter what game I played, it was absolutely intolerable because of the 200-300 ms delay, with occasional 500 ms spikes. Speed tests both on CenturyLink and external sites often showed acceptable speeds, but occasionally were absolutely atrocious, all within the same 5 minute period of time with no difference in line usage at my end. Completely baffled, I turned to CenturyLink support. They showed consistent and acceptable speeds on my end from their sites, even when I ran my own speed tests and showed them the screenshots from them which showed they were terrible. I routinely asked them if they had changed server architecture or something, with no luck. On a whim they sent me a new modem, which didn't help. The weird thing is I can -usually- stream HD without issue (though often even text webpages are a struggle), it's only gaming when my ping is always a problem. My street is the only one in my neighborhood that doesn't have an alternative for ISP, so I'm SOL. On a hunch I asked them if they were throttling me because I occasionally torrent and am probably in the upper band of their client's data usage. The representative said that CenturyLink doesn't throttle it's customers, even after I showed him the link on their site that clearly states that their "Excessive Use Policy" indicates they do. S'pose I'll keep bugging CenturyLink. I don't have any other option. Good luck with yours.

Within the last two weeks I've had to reboot my router ten times

I've got bonded DSL running over the Technicolor C2000T. It's been nearly flawless for close to a year. However, within the last two weeks I've started getting complete loss of Internet access once or twice a day. If I look at the router, I see not errors or anything, but I can't ping it from other Internet locations and it won't forward traffic from the internal network. The only solution I've found is to reboot the router. I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen similar, or if anyone knows how to get more detailed log messages from the device. Thanks!

CenturyLink Gigabit and Prism TV questions (speed, CPE, etc...)

I realize this post may annoy a lot of people who can't get Gigabit (especially in Vegas), but I need some answers. My mother lives in Vegas, and her home is eligible for CLink's gigabit service. I'm debating between gbit (synchronous) and 100/50. The pricing I received (including Prism) was $50 for 100/50 and $80 for gbit. I had an (unusually) informative chat session, and learned that static IPs are available ($75 setup and $10 for one or $30 for six). I am curious about CPE for this setup. I assume that both the 100M and gbit services are FTTP. According to my chat, the Prism CPE has no effect on the internet. What ports come out of the fiber demarc? Ethernet and coax? I am also wondering if it is difficult (or incur a fee) to switch between 100M and gbit. As I said before, I'm sorry if anyone is sad or jealous. The only thing I can say is that since this is for my mom's house, I won't be getting gbit either (not in phx yet.) Thanks for you help and input. Justin

Earlier this week I found that I could log into centurylink.net but could not access my email, account page or email manage user page. SO I chatted with a rep and he opened a ticket. I have heard nothing about the ticket since then and now I cannot even log into centurylink.net. What does it take to get my account working again?

Century Link Door to door bait and switch

As a disclaimer, I use Cox internet. I live in Peccole Ranch, and we've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of century link gig fiber. On friday, a young lady came to our door and told us that fiber was available in our area, and tried to sign my roommate up. Unfortunately, because my roommate had a credit freeze we had to ask her to come back after he had the freeze lifted. During the conversation, my roommate and I asked repeatedly "so this is fiber right...were not interested in DSL" and my roommate repeatedly referenced gig speed and this person On monday two people came back to our door. One, a gentleman named phillip Z, was wearing a baseball cap with "1 gig speeds logo" on it. Again, both referenced fiber multiple times. However, after checking online we were a bit concerned because our area was still not listed on the website as having fiber available. So we pressed the issue and asked for the exact specifications of the service for which they were trying to get us to sign a contract. After repeatedly evading the questions, they admitted that by "fiber" they meant fiber to the node, and dsl to the door (so basically DSL). And that the maximum speed offered was an absurd 25m/sec. So cliffs notes, CL is going door to door in vegas in areas where they don't offer gig, trying to get people to sign up for a contract their terrible DSL service by misrepresenting it as gig fiber.

Anyone having issues accessing www.chase.com, comes up timing out and blank on my end. Googling "is chase.com down" results in "http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/chase.com.html" reporting it as being up but noticed website being checked is "chaseonline.chase.com", which also works on my end. Could you folks check on your end to see if you are experiencing same issue cos several folks on that website reported same issue. Tried calling chase but they claimed no issue on their end probably bcos test is being run thru their LAN.

That's my bandwidth usage level, according to the snail-mail yesterday. The one that also claims that I'm a heavy Internet user (emphasis theirs). Browsing and roughly an hour a day, somedays two, of Netflix got me here. If I don't upgrade to a higher speed I'm unlikely able to get, and that's what the mail is really about, how soon before I should expect a Cap warning? -- --

Anyone know why Prism is not in Phoenix Proper yet?

Does anyone have any idea why/when CenturyLink is actually going to start selling Prism in Phoenix proper? I have 40/5 VDSL right now, and it's IPTV so there really is not any reason why they could not start selling it already. I'm just getting aggravated since due to a tree just right i had to go back to Cox and their lame SDV just so i could get the three channels i watch.

I currently live in a Town home the main TV is on the first floor using Comcast DVR connection, A second TV on the second floor and we have two computers on the second floor that are hard wired to the modem next to them and are to old to add wireless. How does your prism and internet service hook up. There is no way for you to hard wire between the floors in this Town home and we are not allowed to have external wires on the town home. There are TV Cables and Telephone lines that can be accessed on both floors. Do provide a box for the Computers internet to hard wire too and a separate box for the TV's?

[Prism TV] Prism and Dsl keep dropping

What are everyone's thoughts on prism and dsl together, I like the concept but real life experience so far has been very poor. With just having a tech come out 11/5 and the next day and ever since has gotten worse chatting with prism support the soonest i could get another tech is 11/30, pretty rediculous. Over the last 3 months since switching to prism and dsl with centurylink there has been non stop dropping of service where prism will freeze at minutes at times and the internet will not connect showing the red internet light on the gateway. I have had 4 different techs come out with changing the actiontec c2000a to technicolor 2000t to another technicolor c2000t, also new line from nid to pedestal, new dedicated dsl line as well since internet drops and prism freezes and skips recording. I am at the point where I want to dump these services and switch back to cox--poor customer service so far. I have 20/2 dsl, 20/2 prism pair bonded

Congestion/bad maintenance changes in Kansas City region...?

Third night like this, noticed this after their maintenance for Gardner, KS completed (Tickets 85656 and 83949). Unable to play games without extensive rubber banding/warping, playing video media from YouTube and TwitchTV is a no go, even for 360p during the hours of 4pm to 10.45pm - continuously buffering out. I checked my router, no saturation of the line for upload or download. So, before i go posting more/full traceroutes and pings which are to and from my server, and traces to websites that I commonly visit... anyone else in this area having noticeable slowdowns/high latency? Some snippets of the routing ping spike... Sure, it may be 50ms, but that 50ms has also completely crippled YouTube watching, can't watch TwitchTV as well. :(
