Hi, I have a Actiontec C1000A modem-router combination on a CentruyLink high speed dsl. I had no problems at first but about a month ago I started getting "timed out" problems on wifi, where the connection will drop for a few seconds. Laptops (Windows 7) and cellphone (android) all have the problem, which was determined through ping testing 192.168.0.1. I don't have any problem with a wired connection. So far I have:
Factory Reset the the modem.
Tried uncommon wifi channels
Update firmware on modem and network card
Change encryption type
Finally I called CenturyLink and they are sending me a replacement modem. However, since this wasn't initially a problem I'm a little worried it will come back, even with a replacement modem. Any suggestions???

[CenturyTel] awful customer service
My ex placed an order to set up service at my home. He isn't even living there ! Centurylink will not allow me to cancel the order that he placed because he has to be the one to do it. It's one of his harrassment techniques. I am the only person listed on the property as resident.. how can he set up service and not prove he lives there but I can not cancel it and I can prove I am the only one living there?

Issues with line repair/temp line
Over the last 6 months we've phoned Century Link at least 4 times for internet connection issues with the modem losing signal intermittently. The only fix was to reset the modem and usually service would resume. After talking to technical support they sent out a service tech, whom told us nothing was wrong, that was in January. As of the end of June the service was so poor that the modem could not connect at all and century link's phone support recommend we try replacing the modem. That didn't help and on July 1'st they stated they would send out a repair tech to check out the connection. The tech comes out and Tell's us there is a short or a cut somewhere in the line between the box across the street and our house. He then goes to our new neighbors house and runs a line from the side of there yard across there pool area over the fence and down to century links small box on the side of our home. The tech said within 10 day's we should have someone out to run a new line. After waiting 2 weeks we phone century link again, they said we did not have an open ticket and scheduled another tech to come out. This tech said that everything was in order as the last tech ran the temporary line and that he could not run the new line and that someone would be out to do so within 2 weeks. We phoned again today and we got the same runaround as last time and again they are sending a technician out to our house within the next 2 day's. It's been over 5 weeks and we still haven't had anyone attempt to repair our line aside from someone that came out in the middle of the night and probed half my front yard.
What do I have to do or whom do i need to speak with to resolve this issue. Whenever i call century link they just send out another repair tech and they never seem to have an "OPEN" repair ticket. I'd like to be able to solve this problem when the service tech comes out in the next 48 hours.

Where to buy new phone line splitters?
I'm actually using Comcast cable for my internet, but I still have Centurylink phone service.
My phone is very scratchy-sounding with a lot of noise on the line.
Where can I buy new phone splitters? (The little white piece that plugs into the wall phone line outlet)

Another fee increase, Access Recovery Charge (ARC)
What is the access recovery charge? Fluff.
http://www.centurylink.com/help/index.php?assetid=67
It went from $0.50 to $1.00
This is not a tax, it is a "Related Monthly Charge"
The 'Federal Access Charge' also went up. This is also not a tax.
It is comical the way phone companies operate like this, and are allowed to operate.
Just charge one price, when I buy a loaf of bread, I don't see a charge for 'Related charge' for putting the loaf in the shop.

Question
Hello,
Just wondering if 19 down / 4 up on speedtest is good for a 40/5 plan
I am doing this via wireless
In case there is a issue here is this,

[modem/router] Westell 7500 modem/router - want to add DLink DIR
I am using a Westell 7500 modem/router without any issue, other than the fact that it doesn't provide the speed on my network that a recently purchase DLink DIR657 Media Router claims to provide. In other words, I want to take advantage of the higher speed wireless adapters we have at home already.
I THINK that what I need to do is use the modem/router which is 10.0.0.1 to connect to internet, then attach the DLink which is 192.168.0.1 to that, and then use the wireless on the new router.
However, I cannot figure out what needs to be connected to which ports, and how to get the DLink set up probably so that it's actually doing anything. I'm not an airhead when it comes to performing the tasks needed, but I think I require help knowing what those tasks are in the first place. Can someone please help a guy out?

[Prism TV] Centurylink FTTH/Prism
Does anyone here have FTTH w/ prism? I noticed the Calix 722GE ONT has HPNA built in, just wanted to know if anyone had photos of their setup, or recommendations at the least. Would also like to know if it goes fiber from the street --> Calix ONT --> Fiber to Cat6 ---> router of your choice, or if it requires a centurylink router inside the home.
thanks

[Embarq] Apple TV
Just got updated to 15mbps and had to get new modem/router provided through Century Link. It is a Cisco DDR 2200. I previously had a Linksys E3000 connected to the old provided dsl modem only. I run Apple Tv to stream movies and stuff to an entertainment center TV from a wired connection on a large desktop PC. Everything worked great with only 5mbps before the upgrade on the old router. Now everything seems ok with Apple tv to see all the movies and play one or sometimes 2 until you stop and try to go to different movie and it just spins the busy circle endlessly. It will reconnect for another 1 or 2 after exiting iTunes on the PC and restarting iTunes. Called CL support and the guy got all up in the router and tested connection and everything checked out ok. Apple support blamed the router as it worked fine before upgrade and I even bought a new apple tv to troubleshoot and the same issue occurred. I feel like the old router might do better but now Cent Link says they don't recommend bridging to the old router. Any advice or anything will be greatly appreciated.

[CenturyTel] Oh what i wouldnt give for faster internet acess
I have tried everything to get faster internet service out of centurylink. when I first signed up more four years ago I got reliable 1.5 meg speeds for a year out of my single dsl line . not super fast but it was good. then I made the mistake of trying to upgrade to 10 meg speeds. since then my speed has dropped to a blistering 512k . I have tried everything as have my neighbors to get us better faster internet .. but to no avail .. I am running two links now and a load balancer just to get enough bandwidth to work .
and every time I call centurylink I get the oh we are working in your area and will get there soon ..
I know it is a new development but the block has doubled in capacity from a home perspective and still nothing ..
any ideas . I am honestly thinking satellite is my only option..

[Embarq] Supported Modem/Router Combo
Having looked at the list of supported Devices on Centurylink's Web site, and trying to finding a new one to purchase seems to be a lost cause. Are those devices old discontinued technology? I feel they are over priced as such from Centurylink. I tried to email support to get them to update their modem list with newer devices, but they said I needed to contact customer service by phone and said they could not forward my email when I asked them to, I do not like to call about service issues because there is no documentation. To make a long story short, I was just trying to buy a supported modem from a vender other than Centurylink at a reasonable price. Thanks

[CenturyTel] Speed Drops at 1 PM Daily - Back to Normal at Midni
I have 3 X 8 Mbps Residential DSL lines, one with POTS. Initial install and operation first month nothing out of normal 80% guarantee. For the past several weeks a problem when each line speed drops from near 8 Mbps to 2-4 Mbps at 1 PM every day of the week. Then at midnight, all come back to near 8 Mbps. CenturyLink has been out several times and they say the DSL Modems (7500) are working right and have high enough synch. They think my Peplink Balance 30 is the problem. See snapshot of "normal" operation...nothing wrong with PepLink. Problem is definately CenturyLink, they don't seem to get the message. I think it's DSLAM Hardware/Software issue. Else why does it reset at midnight? Need some help, they are the only provider available.
This morning just now the line speed went bad again...first time during morning hours. Something is wrong!
(The speedtest site was not working right, here is 3rd snapshot from one that is right - so I am at normal speed this morning ... overall problem the same)
Update: CenturyLink "all lines through Athens have reached Bandwidth Exhaust. The condition started August 9, 2012 and is expected to be resolved by November 15, 2013."

VDSL Questions.
Hey guys, so I am really kind of a new person to all of this DSL talk. I am used to cable companies and just automatically having fast internet. Basically I live on the side of a mountain and have had a heck of a time just trying to get 1.5 MB internet. It never works and always drops. When the guy comes out he tests the line and says he gets something around 30000 ft on his test. That isn't surprising since my house is literally miles from town up a secluded mountain with only this tiny neighborhood up here.
Now, they are saying that a VDSL upgrade is coming to my area. My question is this. Are they actually going to be able to make it work? Everything I have read so far says that VDSL cannot travel near as far as regular DSL. Is there some kind of junction they will put in up here that will let it work well or are they just fooling me? Any input is greatly appreciated because I know next to nothing.

Problem defies logic
My desktop is the computer having issues. It's a Dell Dimension 2400 with a 3.06 ghz Pentium IV processor, 2 gigs DDR1 RAM, and a Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller. It has a wired connection to a Belkin F6D4230-4 wireless router which is connected to an Actiontec GT701D DSL modem.
I had no problems with my desktop before my recent move. After moving I got a new ISP (CenturyLink) and bought the Actiontec modem to replace the AT&T modem I'd been using. I also took the opportunity to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows XP. It was after all that that I tried reconnecting my desktop to the internet, and that's when the troubles begin.
The problem is that while my desktop seems to have no trouble downloading data, it hardly uploads at all. Connection speed tests stall after the download test, and the upload test never starts. I can't connect to most websites that require login information; after inputting the information, the browser just sits there with a "Waiting for www.[sitename].com" message, never changing except to occasionally give me a 408 error. Files changed on other computers sync to my desktop just fine via Dropbox, but any change made on my desktop never syncs with other computers.
I've tried resetting both the router and the modem. I also restored my router's factory defaults. I've disabled the Windows firewall and bypassed the router's firewall, too. I did try connecting my desktop directly to the modem, and everything worked then, making me think there was an issue with my router's wired connections. However, my laptop doesn't have any trouble connecting through the router at all, either wired or wirelessly. Thus the problem only arises with that particular computer, but only when it's connected to the router.
I should mention that on booting my desktop, I get several instances of the "Error allocating i/o for pci device," message, as well as at least one of "Error allocating mem bar for pci device."

Initial Config for Cisco 877W
I have a Cisco 877W that I've been trying to setup for my CenturyLink VDLS2+ service for weeks now. I'm about pull out (what's left) of my hair.
I have CenturyLink VDSL2+ service at my house, currently at 12mb/s down, 896k up. On Monday, I'll be bumped up to 40mbs/20mbs. I also have a /29 block of IPs, but will be upgrading to a /28 on Monday as well (once I know the 40/20 is working fine).
I've gone through many sample configs, but all will not apply due to one reason or another. Here are some common lines I get the "invalid" message when trying to load the config. Keep in mind, this is supposed to be for the same router. It's almost as if they're using a different firmware/IOS than me:

PK5001Z Problems or CL problems?
Hi,
I just got CL yesterday - and I have periods of constant disconnect. Today it was a couple times an hour, then a few more times an hour, and now every 5 minutes or so. I can't do things like stream videos or play video games without constantly being D/Ced
Per other forum items I turned off the WPS, added my computer to the DMZ hosting list as well as made sure the firmware was up to date (version 16), and opened the ports for the video games I was trying to play .
Tech support chat told me it was a physical issue - but I can't be convinced as his only data was seeing my upload/download was slightly off on my modem status.
I'm wondering if this is a router issue, or an issuing with the DSL, or CL in general?
For some reason, when the tech guy came, there were sets of ethernet cables / ports in one of our closets. Using an Ethernet cable he connected the "machine room" (some place in the apt building" to living room so the DSL would work. I was going to start trying to change that to other rooms to see if that would help?
Anyway, let me know what other metrics you may need if someone could assist.
