Porting CL number to Voip without losing CL DSL

Hi All, We currently have a phone/DSL bundle. I want to port our CL number to a voip provider, but want to make sure that CL doesn't cancel our DSL in the process. What's the best approach to use with CL to make this happen? Use the voip provider for the port, or go to CL directly, or? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I haven't done this before and want to try to avoid a big mess if possible. Thanks!

2100T Open port??

I have the 2100T with Centurylink and just ran a port scan on my WAN. Apparently TCP port 4567 is open. Is this a bug or does this service a purpose? I have all my ports set to stealth and have no way to close this port. :(

Would anyone know what modem/routers, model and brand, they are giving away with this service? They told me in presage that my NETGEAR modem won’t be compatible but said our Orbi router would but needs to be bridged. Anyone done this and was it difficult to set up? Thank you

Fresh fiber install

Recently I had a friend that got gig service/fiber installed from CL. They gave him a C3000Z for the router. I have an old Netgear R6220 that would work, but the tech said that it would perform poorer than the C3000Z router. Thoughts??

I live in an apartment complex and this is probably a lost cause but I had install last week and have never been able to hit 950/950 or close to that. Max Ive gotten is 850/500 in the middle of the week in the morning when most people went to work. I have a tech coming tuesday but feel its a lost cause and the network is probably oversold. Should I just cancel for Tuesday. I feel the best they can say is speeds are up to and to eat it and im SOL

Gigabit Fiber Not Getting Speeds

I just upgraded to gigabit fiber. They ran fiber to my house and changed to cat 6 in my house. I am using the provided ZyXEL 3000Z modem and it is chained to a TP-Link C9 wifi route. My speeds coming out of 5ghz on y phone are pretty standard. When i am in the room I am getting 150-200 up and the same down. My issue is when I check the speeds on my xbox one s. I have it hardwired directly to the modem and I am getting about 400 down and 800 up. I have turned off QOS setting in the modem. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

C3000Z firmware update

I noticed that the Zyxel C3000Z automatically pulled down a new firmware, its also posted on the device help page on CL's site. Any way to find out what the changes are or the purpose of the update? Been a while since the C3000Z got one I believe (early 2018 I think). Old version: CZD002-4.16.008.5 New version: CZD003-4.16.009.47

Bypassing CenturyLink Modem

I have gig fiber installed at my house. I have the c3000z modem that was provided by CL. I have a tp link c9 router plugged into that. I am trying to get rid of the 3000z and just use the tp link. I have done bridge mode in the momem and trying to set the vlan tag in the tp link router. I read it should be 201, I can set that fine but it's requiring me to put in additional VLANS for VOIP and IPTV. I will not let me leave it empty or put random numbers in. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Does anybody know more than the useless CenturyLink Techs?

There is only 1 option for internet at my house. CenturyLink 7Mbps. Anybody know what they are doing when it comes to errors and problems? I have got CenturyLink "techs" to come check it out around 10 times over the past 5 or so years. They do their tests and say it all looks good. It was down 1 day out of the week and another 3 days out of the week it would be .1Mbps or 1000ms ping. Basically, these fucking "techs" are completely clueless and need to go get a job at McDonalds... back to the topic. As of the past few months, the internet cuts out at least 20 times a day(just have to get over my anger). Sometimes it will go down for a minute, sometimes for 20 minutes. There has always been CRAZY amount of errors when you go into the modem/routers web interface. Now, I just got home and internet isn't working. However this time, all the lights that are normally lit on the modem/router are lit. Pings work fine(50ms). But the download/upload is 0/0. There simply is no other option than to throw 500$ a year into something that is worth 50$. I thought that maybe somebody online had connections in the top of the company and could get this shit sorted or knew of some things that I would be able to test/check myself. Here is a screenshot of the errors and such as of right now. 30 minutes after a reboot.(All lights on and pinging google works but no download/upload speed) https://imgur.com/a/Cgt2Fmv

Using C1000Z bridged to Orbi, what to replace the C1000Z with?

We have CL 20Mbs DSL. We are using a C1000Z bridged to an Orbi and that combo seems to work great. However, the C1000Z is old and may be overheating, causing disconnects. We had a CL tech to the house and he checked the line, and he noticed the C1000Z seemed to be having problems. He recommended replacing the C1000Z with a C1100Z. I tried to order the C1100Z from CL, but they said they will ship whatever works with our service, and can't guarantee we'll get the C1100Z so I didn't order it. Now I'm wondering if I should even bother with the C1100Z since we don't need the WiFi in it, as the Orbi works great and I'd bridge it and disable the WiFi in it. We just need a good modem for the 20 Mbps CL service. What do you suggest?

Router needs power-cycled several times daily

Technicolor C1100T, Centurylink 25 down-2 up VDSL2-8A. Got the CAF2 upgrade several months ago and operation and performance has been close to flawless, after years of 1.5M up it's been very nice. A couple of weeks ago started randomly losing connection several times a day and having to power cycle the router to get it back. Had another C1100T so I installed and configured it a couple days ago...same problem. It will come back for 1-3 hours it seems like then I repeat the reboot process The internet is always there when I power cycle so I'm assuming the problem is on my end and hadn't called CLink...but what do I know? Any thoughts of possible solutions to this issue?

CenturyLink feature to watch tv online on your phone?

I know some other firms have a feature where you can watch 'the game' (etc.) online on your smartphone, like in the airport. Would anyone know if CL has that? I'm not sure where to find or look for it on the webpages after I log in. Obviously you have to be in a wifi area. Then just need to log on. Would be nice to have. Thank you, Mac

Fastest CL DNS servers for fiber

Hello, Just wondering what is everyone using for CL DNS servers? Are any of them located in AZ? I IP geo located them and they NE or NJ? Anyway, I usually run name bench to find the fastest DNS server but it will not run on CL fiber for whatever reason. So I have been using GRC DNS test but results are different every time I run it. For example, I ran with CL DNS servers configured and google DNS was number 3 on the list so I changed everything to Googles DNS servers and ran the test again and now my router was ranked 20? I ran GRC in past and I get inconsistent results so not sure how reliable that test is. Also since changing to google DNS servers my buffer bloat appears to be a little worse but will run additional test to know for sure. Setup: Not using CL modem, I am using Netgear r7800, in PPPOE and VLAN tagging. Stock NG firmware and QoS is off. Looking for some feedback, Thank you!

I was using my fiber just fine this morning and when I returned the whole apartment was dead. They are sending a tech tomorrow. Any ideas how it could just go dark with no outages in the area?

C2100t bridge mode questions

I recently bought some ubiquiti hardware for my home networking purposes. nothing fancy, just an edgerouter lite and an access point. Currently my internet is through CenturyLink and I have 1gb fiber and have the c2100t for my modem/router/WiFi solution. My goal is to put my c2100t in bridge mode and just utilize the modem portion. I have read in the forums about how I need to connect my laptop to my c2100t via Ethernet and set up the configurations on the c2100t to turn off both 2.4 & 5.0 radios and also go into WAN settings and put this into transparent bridge mode. As far as I can tell, I did all of these steps correctly. My problem is when I try to connect my edgerouter lite to my c2100t. I am unable to access the edgerouter lite GUI when I connect my laptop to the edgerouter lite via Ethernet. This leads me to assume I did not fully configure the c2100t correctly or I am not connecting Ethernet cables correctly from my c2100t to the edgerouter lite. Currently I have an Ethernet cable connecting the c2100t and ERL. I am using 1 of the 4 LAN ports on the c2100t and Ethernet port 0 on the edgerouter lite. My hunch is that I may need to configure one of the LAN ports on the c2100t? Or perhaps wire the two together differently? All the help is appreciated. Thanks!

Bridge mode DSL protocols?

Hi all - I picked up one of that fancy Netgear Orbi Mesh network routers with the mesh wifi. Works like a champ in AP mode. I ended up upgrading to the 120/10 service from Century link and got a C3000Z modem. Modem seems good enough, wifi is turned off on it because the mesh system works MUCH better in my house. The Orbi has many features the CenturyLink modem doesn't such as limiting access to the internet with a click of a button. With some frustrating teens in the house, I'm like to use the Orbi as the main router w/o the modem also being a router, however to put the modem into bridge mode I need to input some dsl protocols - I tried contacting CenturyLink, but no one seems to have a clue. Any ideas? This is a bonded pair (two 60 mbps/5 links).

Cable from ONT to router

I have recently had Centurylink fiber Gig installed. Ethernet cable they used (preinstalled in home) Is sketchy. I thought I might try and rerun a cat 6 cable. How do I get into the ONT box? I saw some special screws. If I do get in is it just plugging into same port other cable was plugged in?

Hello everyone, I don't know if this has been posted already or not but today I got a targeted ad on my facebook feed with the title "CenturyLink fiber is coming to your neighborhood!". I assumed it was generic ad since I live in a house built in the 1970s, but the ad took me to https://www.centurylink.com/fiber/plans-and-pricing/phoenix-arizona/ . After zooming in on the map, my neighborhood (35th Ave & Glendale) is definitely highlighted. I saw team fishel trucks a few days ago, along the main road, but didn't think much of it. Link might work for other cities too
