My CenturyLink Internet keeps going down or gets super slow and I've narrowed the problem down to this: When I go into the modem (ActionTech C1900A) I see I have 2 lines: DSL1 and DSL2. DSL2 has no issues. DSL1 however keeps coming up, going down, reconnecting .. then up for a few minutes and then repeats this cycle (status goes from red to yellow to green .. then repeats) This causes the internet to get super slow or crap out all together on some devices. I see CRC errors for DSL1 and none for DSL2. I also see Loss of Signal Link Failures for DSL1 and none for DSL2.
I have tried rebooting, changing the wireless channel, took the DSL cord from the wall to the modem out and put back in. None of these basic remedies have helped. As a side note, all the lights on the modem stay green and look fine.
Is this an issue I need a tech for? I'm reading it sounds like could be an issue with noise on the line. Nothing has changed here in my home. This just starting happening about a week ago.
Any help is much appreciated. I need internet to conduct work from my home office and its crapped out on several meetings in the last few days. Not good when you are trying to demo software that you sell! ha! I can send any screenshots of the modem diagnostics if needed.

How come some WAN IP's produce more Fec errors that others?
Let me explain, if I reboot my modem and get a different IP address some of them will produce way more FEC errors than others. If I start getting a lot of FEC, I can reboot the modem until I get an IP address that doesn't throw Errors as quickly. Depending on my ip they can rack up quickly 100 every few minutes, or as few as 100 in a month. Strange.

Zyxel C1100Z, and two old PK5001z, all three same issue?
I've got a somewhat new for us from the tech who helped modem. The modem is a Zyxel c1100Z, ment for out 25MB line. It works, no real issues until a couple days have passed or when its decided to throw a fit.
The issue also occurred on a few older models we had when we only got 10MB DSL. The issue in as best as I can describe, is that after a while any and all NEW traffic will be blocked and receive a bad DNS error. Traffic that is still ongoing when this occurs, can continue to function normally. For example, I'm streaming a video and it has 30mins left to buffer. This video will continue to download, no issues. If I try to say, watch a new video, or go back a page which needs to be refreshed I will get a "Failed to load page, Check DNS" kinda error. I can continue to talk on VOIP apps when it occurs as long as I don't disconnect. To remedy this issue, I always have to power cycle it till the next time it happens and it will. The techs at Centry have no idea whats going on, they just keep saying to buy their new modems on a lease. (Their own tech gave us this out of an unopened box). This issue has also happened on 2 other Zyxels, PK5001z. I think it strange all three would do the same thing.
I have updated the firmware, made sure its not overheating. When the tech last came out, they had fixed an open box outside that had been grounding the line. When they fixed that, the 10MB PK5001 seemed to work for an entire week with no issue. So maybe there is still some kinda grounding going on that's causing the modem to trip itself? I have no clue. I have access to the modems GUI, so if you need information to help me then I will gladly provide it. Any and all help is appreciated as I would like to stop having to power cycle this every other day just to use the net.

Major problem with email at CenturyLink, and they're not telling..
Email can't be used with 3rd party email client (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.). Retrieving emails can't be done because you get a security error indicating certification has expired.

Many people claiming for days this has been a problem that has yet to be resolved. For example:
http://downdetector.com/status/centurylink/news/154227-problems-at-centurylink-3
I thought maybe the problem was the email server names were being changed, but tech support told me no. All they said was that techs are doing maintenance to email servers. For more than three days?

Damm FIber Cuts
Three times in two months contractors have cut CL's fiber feeding the RT my ADSL is served out of, while CL does a decent job of locating the cut and repairing it, for some reason the DSLAM doesn't come back up until much later, very odd.
Last cut the fiber was restored at 3:30PM but the ADSL service remained down until around 9:00PM.
Cellular out here is marginal so I foresee satellite in the near future as a backup.

Can anyone help with my CL problem?
I live in Goodyear which is right outside of phoenix. I have the 40/5 plan. I get my full download and upload speed with no issues until 8pm hits. Once 8pm hits things are very slow, i mean between 5 - 9Mbps download. Then around 11pm things get back to normal. Clearly this is due to congestion but is there anything I can do about this?
It is not my hardware, I have a wired gigabit connection from the modem to my computer. I have tried different phone jacks in the house and also used 2 different century link modems. I have called tech support a couple of times and they gave me that BS, restart your modem, computer ect.... They have even sent a tech out once and he said the line looks good no issues, however that was NOT at 8pm, that was during the day.
It seems like network congestion during that time, but is there anything I can do about it?
Thank you for your time.
EDIT: I have also tried a VPN at these times thinking they may be throttling for some reason, but the VPN speeds are a little worse that regular speeds so this is not the issue
EDIT 2: Also another side note. It seems like CL is doing some QOS stuff. As mentioned above I get 5-9Mbps however on certin sites I get my full 40Mbps speed. These sites that work perfectly at this time are anything google related, netflix and Steam downloads. There might be others but the vast majority are slow.

Speed is slow after upgrade to 80/10
I recently upgraded my speed from 40/5 to 80/10 bonded. Tech came out, did his thing and replaced the actiontec c2000a with a technicolor c2100t. Ever since the upgrade from around 7am until 11pm the speed is significantly less than I'm paying for. I get roughly 15-20 down but I get the full 10 upload at those hours but in the late evening to early morning I get around 90/12. It's been like this since September 1st when the install was completed. I've contacted support many times to no avail and they recently put in a ticket to have a tech come out and take a look but I wanted to know if there is anything I can try on my end before he gets here to resolve this issue or at least find out what may be causing it.

Prepaid Price for Life Internet for $45
I currently pay $48.94 per month for 40Mbps down/20Mbps up with Centurylink. This is a promotional price that will expire in a few months.
However, it looks like Centurylink is running a promotion for prepaid internet for $45/month. It looks like I can get 60 down/30 up for this price (my address does qualify for this speed).
Has anyone converted their postpaid account to a prepaid account to take advantage of this? Are there any downsides to it?

Mount Vernon MO-area construction?
Hello all, was wondering if there was anyone on this forum that was familiar with any of the new construction I have been seeing in the Mount Vernon, MO area?
Specifically I have been seeing cabled layed on Hwy 174 from near I-44 east to at least the Lawrence/Greene County line.
Familiar story...1.5M DSL "High Speed Internet" here for many years, with no evidence or prospect of upgrades...until now maybe?
Been lurking here for years, thanks to all the folks that contribute here.

Service issues
So my 25/2 DSL has been having some issues. The speed has been about what I pay for but there seems to be high latency and perhaps some packet loss and errors which are causing unstable and intermittent connection problems.
I have attached my modem stats page. Their internet chat support is worthless and first tried to tell me that I should upgrade my speeds (LOL) then suggested I replace the modem. The modem is a C1100T.
I do notice on the admin page "DSL Line Status" often says "MARGINAL" or even "POOR" where it used to generally always say "GOOD".
Any ideas? And if I wanted to use a different VDSL2 modem, which would I procure? I don't like renting from CL but didn't want to spend a bunch on a modem and not like the service or decide to continue with CenturyLink.
Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

England, AR CenturyLink Service
I have spoke with centurylink via phone in July and was told that service was available at my address, but no spot was available. I called again today and was told that centurylink did not provide service at my address, and only at&t did. ( I know at&t ONLY provides wireless in my area). Is there a local tech in England, AR area that can message me please and verify my address if I have service, and if I do how do I get notified when a spot is open? Thank you!, Adam

Clawing my way to faster speeds
I've just gotten bonded pair VDSL+ and my speeds have gone from 14/1 (single line) to 12/2. When making the "upgrade" arrangements, I was told that the 20/2 that I had been offered a couple of months ago was no longer available. Attenuation figures indicate that both lines are good to 12 so this would seem to be some kind of soft limitation by CL. When I put my address into the CL Business website, I see that 20/2 IS available to me.
Any suggestions on how to work the CL system to get the speeds that were originally offered? Chat, phone, email? What is the best channel? Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Upgrade from POTS ADSL?
It would be awesome if someone from CenturyLink could check to see when we will be upgraded to something better than 5.1Mbps ADSL at Bloomington Road, Fort Snelling MN 55111, known as the Upper Post Veteran's Coommunity. All around us people have 40/5 service and we're stuck with ADSL. I had 7.2Mbps when I first got service in 2015 but got stuck on a 5.1Mbps line with my 2nd service in the same apartment.
When will can we expect something better here?

Updated Minneapolis speed test map
I re-ran the addresses contained in the map in this thread: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29723767-Minneapolis-Centurylink-Speed-map-Including-Fiber-rollout-
(Direct link: http://www.easymapmaker.com/map/6347814ae5d946a2fcc4cd60647ca456)
New map from data gathered last night: http://www.easymapmaker.com/map/cl_speed_1-15-2015
So there are now traces of gig internet in Hopkins and St. Paul (uncheck everything but 1000 at the bottom to see them).
I have a python script that runs the addresses to check their speeds, and I hope to update the map from time to time to see the progression of CL fiber.
-----------------------------------------------
Edit 5/11/2016:
Instructions on how to run this yourself using Vagrant, Ansible and VirtualBox:
https://github.com/mtdoyle/CLSpeedPhantomJS/blob/master/README.md
I have included my giant list of addresses that will be downloaded as part of the instructions above.
Let me know if anything doesn't work!
NOTE: running this script with a large amount of addresses takes a LOT of bandwidth. Each run for me eats up somewhere between 20-40Gb of data. If your internet is capped, you might want to only use a smaller subset of addresses.

Team Fishel installing fiber for CenturyLink in Phoenix?
Once again there are Team Fishel crews on my street. In the past, Team Fishel did work for Cox. When they were on our street two months ago my brother asked who they were working for and he was told CenturyLink. I made some calls to try and find out what exactly was being done. The CSR's I spoke to said there was nothing in the system. My brother went out and talked to one of them last saturday (6/18/2017) and was told they were installing fiber for CL and the work will be completed within the week. Anyone have a number to call to find out what is being done. I tried calling today and was rerouted several times and then was disconnected.

Century Link You Are Lame
Power out since Sunday of course no ADSL once the batteries in the RT died, no time to resolution and apparently Century Link has no form of portable power. A real telecommunications company like AT&T would have a generator deployed and connected to the RT by now, but I guess I shouldn't expect such modern technology from Century Link.

DSL dead after power outage - cell phone tethering is much quicker
Power went out for about 30 seconds yesterday. When it came back on, my DSL router couldn't get a connection to the DSLAM. Did all the usual, power cycle, reset, and still nothing.
We have a secondary DSL account (another family member) at the same physical residence but that one is working fine.
Tried plugging the other DSL router to my line and it also wouldn't connect.
Phone company says the port I'm on is down - what would cause this from a power outage? And why do they have to come to my residence when they already know it's the port that my connection is on that's down? Why not just go fix the downed port?
Power company said the reason for these small 30 second outages here and there is fail safe circuits being triggered (squirrels/tree limb shorts out line, etc.)
For a while now I've noticed my DSL hasn't been as snappy as it was back in the day of Sprint/early Embarq (web pages take a while to load/stall, poor online gaming performance).
Been using my Galaxy S7 as my internet modem (I know technically it's not a modem but you know what I mean - internet gateway) with AT&T as a service provider tethering the connection to my PC via USB and holy crap I can't believe how much more snappier the net is using the wireless data of my cell phone provider over a wired cell phone provider! You would think it would be the opposite away around!
This might cause me to consider dropping Centurylink for ATT&T wireless because the net runs so much more snappier and quicker on their wireless service! (I think even faster upload speeds as well).
I'm going to give Centurylink a chance, maybe the port/equipment I'm on has been failing for a while now and the last power outage was the final nail in the coffin of it since it doesn't appear even another connection from same physical address was effected and I'll be back to snappy web usage once fixed. But I am going to call AT&T up and get some pricing and additional info just in case.

Question about my Line mode.
I've been having issues with my line. It's a long story that I can get into if anyone is interested.
My question now though is that I have techs telling, and a field supervisor tech telling me I am on ADSL2+. My modem is telling me I am on G.DMT. MDMSTATS is telling me G.DMT Annex A.
I have an email from the field supervision showing me I am on IPDATA: ADSL2+.
What is going on?
Until I had my modem replaced with the exact same modem(c1100z) I was on ADSL2+(according to modem page) with SNR of 9, and Attenuation of 36. I would sync at 7, and sometimes up to 9. but I was solid at 7. Now I'm at 5, with SNR that fluctuates between 18.4-20.4, and a Attenuation of 38. My internet feels off too at times, like webpages load slowly randomly, it's not at a certain time or anything. I don't get many CRC errors, but I average about 300-600k FEC errors a day.
