As the title says, I am getting a terrible connection to YouTube with my new as of 5 days ago FTTH 1Gbps connection. It is constant buffering right now. Is anyone else also getting terrible connection to YouTube, at least right now?
Am in Portland, OR.

[CenturyTel] Fiber being ran in NE Missouri
Hello. I live in a small town in NE Missouri. Centurylink is running fiber in the rural area here. I talked to some of the install guys down the road about the install. They are stopping the fiber 4/10 of a mile from my house with what he called a "trunk". The guy running the wire said he thought that I should be able to still connect with my copper phone lines from here to the trunk and still get better speeds than what I have. I had to explain to him that this would be the first high speed internet offered in this area besides Satellite or Over the air wireless (which is what I have). I sometimes get speeds of up to 23 mbps download and 1.7 upload. So really, anything over this would be awesome. Does anyone know from this very limited information if what the guy running the line said is true? I told him he was breaking my heart by stopping so close to my house. I work from home and REALLY need better internet. It sucks. Oh, and we had a house fire in November of 2015 and rebuilt last year. We do not even have any phone line ran to the house at this point as we don't have a landline anymore. Anyone know if I am able to get this installed, will they install it without this stuff being here already? Am I going to have to get a landline phone in order to get the internet? Thanks for any help you can provide me with what little information I can give you.

How to fix bufferbloat?
Currently have 60/30 and was provided the technicolor C2100T modem/router. I have no issues. Netflix, youtube, browsing all work flawlessly but when I do a speed test my bufferbloat always grades at a "C". How can I fix it?

Which IPv6 prefix to choose?
I'm on CenturyLink's fiber service, so my IPv6 implementation is a dynamic "6to4" setup (not native, unfortunately). When I configure my router's "local network" settings for IPv6, I get an option for the prefix that I'd like to use, and I'm not sure which one to choose. If I've done my math right, I believe one is a /48 and the other is a /64. I've attached screenshots from my config, but I'll type up the relevant stuff here:
- Router's IPv6 address is 2002:6174:589d:5566::1
- Local network prefix has two options: 2002:6174:589d:: or 2002:6174:589d:1::
Is there a reason to choose one prefix over another? The "standard" for ISPs is to give clients a /64, right? Does it matter that the router is grabbing an address out of the first pool?
Sorry for the juvenile question; I'm still getting the hang on IPv6 stuff and the inconsistency in implementation across companies is certainly not helping! :)

C2000T or 2100T for 100mbs PB service?
My home finally qualifies for faster speeds here in Vancouver, WA, and I'm wondering whether I should buy the C2100T for this service, or if I should stick with the C2000T I currently use for my 40mb (non PB) service. From what I can gather, the 2100 just has better wifi. But does it handle the DSL circuit any better/worse than the 2000T does?
I mainly use the modem for a "guest" network, and also have a /29 assigned to it, where I use one of the IP's for NAT for my home LAN and a couple servers, but all of that is routed and handled through a MT router.
Below is the connection stats for the single 40mbs line.
Thoughts?

Not getting advertised speeds with new Gigabit install
I had gigabit installed last week here in Portland, OR. Install went super smooth and I was able to get my R7000 router setup so I won't have to use the CL router. Using my router I'm getting around 550/700. With the tech there we also tested the CL router and it was actually less. Around 450/600.
The ONT is installed in the front of my garage and has maybe 10ft to cabling before it reaches my router.
I've been trying to test it on off hours and it doesn't seem to change at all. I'm happy with these speeds for $85 but would love to be able to reach the advertised speeds. I expected low to mid 900s up and down.

Longer loop reported after after bonded install
Does anyone know why my modem would report a longer loop (each line 600 ft longer) after after bonded install. I am using the same modem. All my modems in the past reported 42** ft, now it is reporting 48** ft.

Bridging C1000A for a RT-AC66U-B1? Need Help Please!
I have actually already been successful getting the modem into Transparent bridging mode, and have already setup the router.
However, I forgot to turn off the C1000A radios, and now I have TWO wireless 2.4ghz networks showing up in scans, the new one and the old one. All I want is the Asus Routers radios on, not the modems.
What I have already tried is to reset the modem using the "Reset" button on the back and it does nothing. I have held it down for 30 seconds several times and even saw lights go out on it, but the modem is still in bridge mode. I still have the internet thankfully, but only through the Asus router. The modem will NOT reset for me?
How do I reset the modem after putting it in bridge mode? OR how can I turn off its wireless radio without resetting it?
Please advise. Thanks

Connection issues after Q1000 vectoring firmware update.
Hey guys, last week I received notice that my modem firmware needed to be updated to support the vectoring rollout in my area. I believe it was going to roll out on the 14th. Anyway, I performed the update on Thursday of last week. A couple days ago I noticed my internet drops out all the time.
I'm using PFSense 2.3.3-RELEASE-p1 for my router with my Actiontec Q1000 in transparent bridge mode, on 40/20 VDSL. I had to reset the modem to perform the firmware update (since the webUI isn't useable in bridge mode) and then set it back to bridge.
In my PFSense logs I'm seeing "LCP: peer not responding to echo requests" and then the PPPoE connection is closed. Within a couple minutes it will reconnect. This can happen anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours apart. I contacted CenturyLink and they said they're not seeing any issues on the line and that I should replace my modem. As I own my modem, I'd rather not do this if it's not necessary.
My questions are thus: Are there any troubleshooting steps I could take? To me this sounds like either a line noise or modem issue, but I'm not super fluent in DSL.
Thanks!

Team Fishel installing fiber for CenturyLink in Phoenix?
Once again there are Team Fishel crews on my street. In the past, Team Fishel did work for Cox. When they were on our street two months ago my brother asked who they were working for and he was told CenturyLink. I made some calls to try and find out what exactly was being done. The CSR's I spoke to said there was nothing in the system. My brother went out and talked to one of them last saturday (6/18/2017) and was told they were installing fiber for CL and the work will be completed within the week. Anyone have a number to call to find out what is being done. I tried calling today and was rerouted several times and then was disconnected.

911 Fees
I have no dial tone, only dry line DSL. Why do I have to pay 911 fees? I've paid these fees for years now. When I asked Centurylink about it, I was told by law they have to charge this so to help pay for 911 and to identify my location when I dial 911. I asked how I was supposed to dial 911 without phone service or a dial tone? She's couldn't answer that but assured me that everyone with dry line service has to pay it.
I think its a bunch of BS

How can I guesstimate what my actual speed would be?
I live in Tucson, and CenturyLink now claims I can get 100 Mbps service. I don't know how far I am from my CO, or if that even matters? I read somewhere around here that some areas have remote DSLAMs...
At any rate, is there any way to guess how good the service actually will be without signing up?

[Qwest] Lesson learned, have a spare - Actiontec Q1000 failure
I learned a lesson about always having a spare router or modem when my Qwest (now CenturyLink) Q1000 Actiontec router failed 24-AUG-2017. Internet service and the router (which has been in service for about seven years) have been reliable, with occasional router hangs or finding the internet LED out in the morning. In all previous problems, it was either a obvious line problem (static or other problems on the voice line), or a reboot or reset of router to defaults fixed connectivity.
This time, normal troubleshooting pointed at a loss of DSL signal, with a noticeable 60 hertz hum on the phone line. On-line troubleshooting with CenturyLink reached the same conclusion with multiple router reboots and removing all other attached equipment. When CenturyLink showed up 25-AUG, the diagnosis was inside line problems, because they had good DSL signal at the outside demarc. Possibly related, the grounding wire at the demarc was loose.
After removing all wiring and attaching the router directly to the demarc, I still could not get DSL sync. All other functions of the router appeared to be good.
I took the router to a relative who has very similar VDSL service, and also found the router could not get DSL sync. I had a CenturyLink / technicolor C2000T router from a garage sale and was able to get DSL sync on my problem line. The biggest problem was finding a wall-wart power supply that was close to the specifications for the router. I'd kept record of the PPP login and password, and was able to configure the replacement router without a service call.
This was unlike other failures on Actiontec DSL routers I've encountered. The typical failure I've seen is an intermittent failure on the external wall-wart power supply (usually seen by the router randomly rebooting),
This would have taken longer without either spare equipment (I see CenturyLink-compatible VDSL modems on Craigslist and eBay routinely) and a known good circuit to test my equipment. If you depend on your internet service, you should work the spares and a test plan in your disaster recovery plan, or else budget the CenturyLink cost for troubleshooting your internal wiring to help conclude your equipment may be bad.

Cable one subscriber looking into CenturyLink
Hey guys, I currently have Cable One and I'm located in Pocatello, Idaho. Centurylink and Cable One are the only ISPs readily available in my area. I'm currently on Cable Ones Family plan ($80/mo 150mbps down 5mbps up 500gb data cap) and I get a good 40-55ms Ping with speeds of 50-120mbps 5mbps on wifi depending on the time of day. Since my wife and I don't have any cable or satellite t.v. provider anymore we resort to Netflix, Hulu, Youtube for our needs. My wife is usually streaming a lot of HD Netflix or Hulu after work and I game a decent amount on either my PS4 or gaming PC. In the past 12mo the most data that we've used was 544GB which was 3 months ago and last month we used 505GB and its because we cancelled our DirecTV services about 4 months ago. If we keep up this data usage Cable One is going to upgrade us to the $105/mo plan which is just way too expensive. Centurylink has an offer of 80mbps for $45/mo no contract for life (internet only) which I am highly considering, but the only problem I have is with their customer service and supposedly their internet in our area is god awful. The ones that I know who do have internet through them seem to get only around 2/3s of their advertised speeds. Should I change companies and save money or stick with the best around? I heard that Cable One charges a $150 reconnect fee each time you don't pay for a month or cancel for a certain time since they don't make you have a contract. Centurylink can't be that bad, can it?? Thanks!

upgrade from 100/10 to 120/20 pair bonded?
I upgraded from single line 40/5(trained at 50/5-old Qwest area) a couple of months ago to pair bonded 80/10. My SNR was 17 down and 16 up. I then upgraded a couple of weeks ago to 100/10. During this upgrade my download SNR has dropped down to 11. The old modem said I was 1660 feet away. The new Technicolor says I'm 5500 feet away. Centurylink says I'm 2200 feet away. My attenuation is in the 17.4 to 17.8 range. I am in a 10 year old house with cat5e ran throughout when I built it.
Is it normal for the SNR to drop that much going from 80 to 100 meg? After speaking with tech support they said my line can handle about 68 meg down and 20 up per line. I am wanting to know if there is a way to get the 120/20 as tech support says my lines would support it but I would have to get sales to approve it. If the computer says I can only get 100 down, is it possible to get an override? I would like to get the higher upload if possible since its the same price. I had a tech come out last week to clean up the Nid a bit as I cancelled land line service. Appreciate any thoughts.

Another drop in Centurylink prices for phoenix
As I mentioned before the new Centurylink prices for phoenix wasn't competitive with cox prices so today century link is offering a new prices for phoenix and these prices are permanet not a promotion
100 mbps for $55
80 mbps for $45
40 mbps for $45
20 mbps for $45
The 80mbps is now offered in most areas of phoenix which looks unbeatable

DSL Exhaust question
Seen this today:
We are currently unable to offer High-Speed Internet at your service address due to some unexpected capacity conditions. If you need further information about these results, please call us at 866-545-3640
Normally when this happens to an area what does CLink do? Or do they wait for years and do nothing? Just hoping they try to do something for our town.

I can send from embarqmail -> gmail with no problem however if I send a message from gmail -> embarqmail it never arrives nor does it show up on my embarqmail webmail page.
Some additional information. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.3LTS. Cronjob messages are processed using Postfix 3.1.0, test messages from the command line are sent using mailx V14.8.6. My mailer is Evolution 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2. I use Fetchmail 6.4.0.beta2 to poll the embarqmail server for mail.
I've already gone into chat with Centurylink tech support and they were unable to help or provide a reason why this is happening. They suggested I call Consumer Care however without being able to show examples such as above a phone call would not seem to help.
