Trendnet TEW-816DRM IPV6
I had the same experience with this modem as RTuesday (in a post from Dec. 2015) -- I got this modem, no problem with it coming up but no IPV6. Well, I telnet'ed into the modem, poked around, and got IPV6 going. I *found* what I needed via telnet, don't worry! All the setup is in browser. This description looks long but it's just a web form so it's not too bad.
So, first -- what is the deal with the manual? The paper manual, and downloadable PDF, don't really match the menus on the device that closely, either with 1.0.0.0 or 1.0.0.1 firmware. In particular, several IPV6-related options seem to be missing. Well, they are but they aren't...
First, log into the modem, go to "Setup->Internet Setup", pick your DSL Config and click Edit. This MUST be set to "IPV4", not "Both". I think if a DSL provider provided both IPV6 and IPV4 all the way to the user, setting this to "both" would be all you'd need. Set to "Both", the modem tries to get both IPV4 and IPV6 address, fails to get IPV6 address (because CL is not really running an IPV6 network), but this makes the connection inelligible in a few steps so it must be off.
Next is the tricky step. Centurylink uses a system called ipv6rd.. it's nowhere to be seen in the menus (despite being in the manual, that page simply doesn't seem to exist.) Telnet'ing in, I found (whether it's intentional or not) an "iptunnel.html" does exist, but is missing a few tags that would make it show up in the menu. (Yes, that left-hand menu is built on-the-fly by a server script, not some canned HTML.) Click on "Advanced". Look at the URL, and see the "var:menu=advanced&var:page=wadvance". Change "wadvance" to "iptunnel" and hit return.
Click "Configure 6in4 Tunnel". You have a screen with "IpTunnel" and "IPv6 Rapid Deployment". You have to fill out both.
Click "IpTunnel"'s Add button. Give the tunnel a name (I used "Centurylink".. I think it literally doesn't matter what you put here), there's only one option for tunnel mode, wan, and lan, so click "Apply". I had my WAN set to "Both" (both IPV4 and IPV6) initially, so I had *no* options in "WAN" and it said "ERR_MALLOC_FAIL" when I clicked "Apply." So if that happens, go back and don't skip step 1 8-)
CL's IPV6rd settings are (from CL's web site):
6rd prefix: 2602::
6rd prefix length: 24
IPV4 CE mask length: 0
IPV4 border router address: 205.171.2.64
Click "Add" on "IPv6 Rapid Deployment". "Mechanism" and "Dynamic" have only one choice.
Prefix: 2602::/24 (this is both prefix and prefix length from CL's settings.) IPV4 mask length 0, and BorderRelayAddress is 205.171.2.64. I clicked "Apply". Click "Select" on the newly-added "Ipv6RapidDeployment" line, *and* click "Activated" on the IPTunnel. The status shows "enabled" and "connected" already, as far as I know IPV6 is up then already. If not, reboot.
Oh yeah.. in Setup->Local IPV6 network, turn on RADVD if it's not already, this lets your local computers get IPV6 addresses. From what I read, DHCPV6 is mostly to let clients get IPV6 DNS servers. I left it off, I found this unnecessary, both Google and Centurylink's IPV4 DNS servers return IPV6 info just fine. One final note -- if you go "Status" and see no mention of IPV6, yeah it isn't there. In "Setup->Local IPV6" you'll see a "site prefix" set up to see it's working.
Cheers!

100 mbps available
My uncle got this in the mail. 100 mbps for $20 but requires unlimited calling phone plan, 2 year contract, and autopay with paperless billing. Only for Utah residents. Might be single bonded since most houses are covered in fiber. He might be super close to the DSLAM to get these speeds as well. My house gets 60 mbps max and I am pretty close to the DSLAM already, and I didn't get this in the mail yet.

Upgrades in Youngstown, Ohio area
Just got off the phone as a perspective new customer and was told that in a few months prism tv will be in the Youngstown area. I live in Beloit and they said I could get 80megs for $68 a month for 2 years without Autopay. $10 off with Autopay. Anyone know anymore about the upgrades and if prism tv is anything worth trying?

Low SNR always bad?
I've noticed I have a very low (6db, former Qwest minimum I think) downstream SNR on my line. I've never bothered checking my line stats before as I've never had a problem that wasn't caused by congestion in other parts of CenturyLink's network, usually peering links with Level3.net. I pay for 12mbps, modem is trained at 15/.8 and has pretty reliably delivered 11-12mbps down since I upgraded.
Is it worth trying to figure out what's responsible for my low SNR at this point, or should I wait until/if it becomes a problem? I'm currently on a temporary line whilst in the process of having the demarc moved, so I can't do much troubleshooting until the new box is in. The wiring under my house is a bit of a mess and could be the culprit, but I've also been told the copper in this area is very old and not particularly good. I think I'm pretty close to the DSLAM, attenuation is listed at 22/9 and the loop length is 2500 feet; my SNR should almost certainly be higher, but if it ain't broke...
edit: so the only minor complaint I could really list is that my upload caps at around .75 mbps, which is a bit lower than the 896 Kbps I'm supposed to get... but my upstream SNR is a lot higher than downstream at 21db.
double edit: Just noticed the modem is listing a lot of near end FEC corrections; over 20,000 in the 18 hours since I reset it. I haven't noticed any problems with stability in this time, but I'm interleaved.

Anyone know of a 4 line bonded DSL modem?
I've had two pairs of bonded DSL (4 lines total) since 2013. It has served me well, but I have always gone through a TP-Link load-balancing router to make all lines available to my network Over the years, I've tried to find a DSL modem that supports bonding four (or more) lines, but have only been able to find things in the UK that didn't clearly say how many lines they would support.
My DSL is through CenturyLink, and is VDSL2+.
Thanks!

A good DSL modem without router for CL?
I have a PK5001Z modem with a Linksys 1200AC router. The modem will drop over half speed often to where I can't stream and sometimes not even surf web. Have to always reboot modem. What would be a good modem only being I have a decent router? Or gateway? Which ever I need? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.....

[CenturyTel] CenturyLink using DHCP C1100Z modem- Capacity exhaust issue
Couple of items here. First off it looks like CL is using DHCP but when I try to put the modem into bridge mode I can never get the DHCP address on my network equipment, so I have put in a work around for that. Has anyone else noticed the DHCP versus the PPPoE protocol.
I live in an area Spring Hill, KS where there is a capacity exhaust issue and CL has had a ticket opened up for this issue for well over 160 days, there are at least 99 customers affected by this and unfortunately when I call in and try to get some information on this I get the big run around. If I had another option out there I would go with it but I don't. I'd like to see these guys fix the issue and give us all more bandwidth, as 6Mbps is not HIGH Speed nor what I would consider broadband. Are other folks out there hitting this capacity exhaust issues?

Choosing the right modem
Hey guys!!
I am trying to decide which modem to get.....
I am currently renting the C1900A ActionTec modem and its been awesome... but i wanna buy my own modem and save some money in the long run. My current speeds are 40/5 and i have gotten every bit of it surprisingly. :)
here is my question.... i have my eye on a C1900A Actiontec modem
as well asl... a C2000T modem... which one would you guys recommend? also is a 40mbps down/5mbps up considered adsl2? what is this type of connection called through the phone line? It is bonded yes, that much i do know for sure haha..
so those are the 2 modems i am looking at......
C1900A [modem]
and the..
C2000T [modem]
also.... i am wanting a modem with a WAN port so i can run my own router off of it.... preferably with Gigabit ports for a home network/media center set up.
Thanks Again gang!

[CenturyTel] Attenuation Question
I noticed in stats for attenuation on my modem that it list for:
Downstream Attenuation (DS1)23.4, (DS2)55.2 db
Upstream Attenuation (US1)6.1, US245.7 db
Is this an indication of a bonded line?

Fiber bait and scwitch
Guy comes around the subdivision the beginning of August offering 40 mb fiber optic from Centurylink. While signing up, the salesman is on the phone with Centurylink and tells me due to capacity issues it wn't be available until Sept 8th. Ok, I can wait. On the 6th a modem arrives and I hook it up. 12mb and dsl, which the router reports is a bad connection. I call them, I was told I signed up 12mb dsl. I cancelled. Once they send me to the cancellation 9talk em out of cancelling and sell more services guy) I am offered 40 mb for less than the $44 I was being billed for 12 mb. One again he denied I was sold fiber. I offered to email him my paperwork. I still say cancel, then he offers me cell phone serices, direct tv or prism.

[CenturyTel] DSLReports Speed Test and my CL
Hi; I've used the speed test here for a long time and always got the results inside the colored balls, but just recently the 4th ball is greyed with a line across the middle. I use CL with a dsl connection and run a MacBook Pro with no apps. Can anyone shed a bit of light on why it is happening? Thanks.

Looks like better speeds are available in a large area serviced by the DSLAM at Red Hill Rd and N Garden Ln. Does anyone know if there were major upgrades done and/or if more are coming in this general area?

Yet *another* CenturyLink Internet Drop Complaint
Hi All,
I have been browsing these and similar forums for WEEKS now, and honestly cannot find a viable solution.
I won't make this too long, I will try and give a quick summary.
My household has CenturyLink Phone+Internet, and are paying for the highest speed in our area (20 MBPs DL). The speed is nowhere near what's advertised, but that's a whole other issue.
Our internet connection, like so many others having this issue, continually drops. It doesn't matter what we are doing-watching netflix, doing emails, browsing the web, etc- the internet connection will just drop out. I can't tell if this is a modem thing or house wiring thing, as we have troubleshooted with multiple modems (one Actiontek PK5000, and one Netgear D6400). Whenever the internet connection drops, which is just for around 30 seconds at most, the lights are always all on whenever we use either box, and when we use routerlogin, it always says the connection is "good," when obviously it isn't.
30 seconds doesn't seem like that big of an issue, but when using certain programs, especially for work, whatever program I am using freezes without an internet connection, forcing me to start all over, and kind of negates the ability to work from home.
I am at a complete loss as to what to do here. We have unplugged the entire landline phone to see if there were issues, and it still dropped. We moved the router away from anything that could interfere and we still got drops, we bought new phone cords (4 wire phone line from our old 2 wire phone line) and there were still drops. There is no filter plugged into the modem, we moved it around the house, and still, every so often there will be a drop. The firmware on each box is updated, so I am becoming more and more sure it isnt a box problem (as we get drops no matter what box is in use).
This happens about 10-15 times a DAY and it's very aggravating.
Does anyone have ANY help or guidance?

Using Centurylink modem C1000Z in bridge mode (PPPoE disconnects)
I'm currently using my Centurylink C1000Z modem in bridge mode with a TP-Link Archer C7 router. At random intervals the connection will stop working resulting in the router disconnecting the PPPoE and reconnecting again. This has happened at random intervals with no apparent explanation. Sometimes I'll go a week or so without issue, other times I'll get several disconnects a day before I get a stable connection again.
I'm trying to think if there might be a setting I'm missing that might help me maintain an active connection. The only thing I could dig up on Google was changing the MTU, which I changed to 1492, but I still experience issues.
Does anyone have a similar setup and managed to keep it stable? Are there any settings in the router I might might need to adjust that could resolve the issue?

Youtube videos struggling to load and buffering even at 144p
For the past month or two, Youtube videos automatically play at 144p and buffer/load extremely slowly even at that setting. Speed tests are fine (I get 80% or more of the speed I'm paying for, 20mbps) and everything else is working fine as far as I can tell. The problem occurs literally all day and night. I used to be able to watch 1080p 60fps videos just fine with no buffering at all. I'm in a rural area so I don't think it's congestion. Is there anything I can do about this or am I just out of luck?
