Problems with the ZyXEL C1100Z - CenturyLink needs to fix this

We are seeing the the following issues with the ZyXEL C1100Z using firmware version CZW002-4.12.009.0: 1. Intermittent/sluggish/non-responsive remote GUI access 2. Often when the modem is configured with PPPoE and a block of static IP's we are unable to access our device behind the modem remotely because we get redirected to the modems GUI instead (the fix for this is to disable NAT but we are often unable to do this (see #3 below)) 3. Settings not taking when applying them remotely (e.g. NAT still showing enabled after remotely repeatedly disabling it) 4. Inability to change the remote GUI port from 443 to 8080 when accessing the modem remotely

[CenturyTel] Loop length too long for bonding service?

I currently have 6MB/512 service (fastest offered in my area). I called CL to see if I could get a bonded line, and they said it was available in my area. We set up a site visit/install. The install day came and went, no call from the tech or anyone from CL. After an hour on the phone I finally get the technician's notes; he stated that I was too far from the CO for bonded service. I didn't think that loop length affected bonding two lines, has anyone else ran into this? Here is some of my information from my modem/router (C1000A): SNR: 13 dB 21 dB Attenuation: 36.0 dB 21.0 dB Power: 19.8 dBm 12.5 dBm WAN Type Selected: ADSL-ADSL2+ Estimated Loop Length: 6006 Line Mode Selected: G.DMT Transport Mode Selected: ATM-LLC Bridged

Hello I was visiting Seattle and I went to a century link store to pay my bill and they like usual tried to up sell me on phone direct tv etc and like usual I declined however as I was waiting there was another customer paying his bill and checking out phone service to see what it would cost him and I over heard him saying that century link no longer charges taxes and fees for phone service in Washington state and around Cowiche Washington where I live and the guy was from Yakima Washigton which is about 10 miles or so from the unincorporated area I live in they now only charge for internet service for there fees and taxes and I thought that was strange as I was always told they charged taxes and fees for phone service however the sales rep said they do not and after the guy left and the clerk finally came back from figuring out why she could not locate my account which is in centrytell area and she was using the wrong sustem or whatever according to the Manager who came over to help and I was asking the lady after she sorted it out about what the other repose tube was telling the other customer about they are not charging taxes and fees any more however I find that strange and I am not sure if they both where lying or if they do not charges the taxes and various fees they charge for phone service now so do you guys now if they do or do not or who would be the best to contact for that info or if anyone of you who live in Washigton who still have phone service have the fees and taxes gone away

Ingress TCP 443 is blocked

So it seems that, at least where I am, Centurylink is silently dropping incoming TCP port 443 packets. Does anybody know if this is their official policy or something, and if not, is there a way to ask them to unblock it? Strangely enough, port 80 seems to work, so I don't know why they would block 443. Hesitant to try just calling them because typically it means I'm on hold for upwards of an hour only to reach somebody who doesn't know what the fuck an internet connection is, and everybody from the line workers to the CEO are a bunch of bafoons.

I recently completed my 12 months promo for HSI and CL raised the monthly fee to their non-discounted rate. To continue with the discounted rate I would have to agree to an ETF for another 12 months. I specifically stated to them that I would not agree to an extension if it entailed another ETF. They refused to grant this waiver, so I chose to terminate service and they retaliated with an ETF of $200 anyway. My question is how do they justify this? Before I go to my attorney, I need to know if anyone knows how they get away with this kind of business practice. I never signed anything, and I specifically said I refuse to agree. After completing a 12 month period, am I not free from the previous ETF? How can they enforce an ETF on a refused service extension based on a non-agreement.

Need a new modem to run in bridge mode w/ my LinkSys WRT1900AC

Ok, I have Century Link as my IP. I've gone through about 3 of their modems (C1000a (2), C1000z) in as many years. About a year ago I decided to buy the Linksys WRT1900AC (http://goo.gl/lD3uUV) router and then ran my C1000a modem in bridge mode. So again, I'm having issues with the CL modem and need a new one. I am paying for 40 mbps download so I need a VDSL2 model to run in bridge mode as cheaply as possible. Century Link is offering me a new modem for about $100 (buy) or rent one for $10 a month. I need some help or some advice on what I should do. What modem would y'all recommend? Any help will be appreciated.

I was paying $90 for 1.5 mb internet and phonw. It was too slow so I called and they said they can upgrade it to 7.5 and only pay $75. Well today I got my bill and its for $150. There is a extra charge saying pro rated. I called and they said that is the charge for changing services. This was not explained to me when I changed services. How can they get away with this? Is there anything I can do?

I've been a CenturyLink customer for almost a year now, but a few weeks ago, really strange things started happening. The websites in my favorites list started having their fonts changed. My favorite website is in Comic Sans now! It only happens on my CenturyLink connection. What could this be? I tried calling customer service but they told me I just need to check my browser settings. I'm going crazy!

Accidentally fubared my modem

Hello all, stupid user incoming! I have a CenturyLink C2000T wireless modem. Some time ago, I configured the admin username and password, and, true to form, didn't write it down. I write down all of my login info for everything else, but forgot one of the most important ones. Figures. Anyways, I realized that there was no way to reset the username or password outside of a device factory reset, which I did. But when I go to the GUI with the defaults, it's telling me that I'm logging in with incorrect info. I've tried multiple times, in case I mistyped, but I get the same answer every time. I'm starting to think that the factory reset didn't take. I had set the modem to have a hidden SSID, and it's still hidden, although according to the modem still broadcasting. If the reset had been successful, wouldn't I be able to see the original SSID on my devices? (I changed the SSID when I changed the login credentials) I've done the factory reset, power cycled, and I still don't think the factory reset has taken.

adding a dedicated DSL line

hello, new here from Colorado. thanks for any help or input or any input you can provide. Trying to get more speed from our internet connection (aren't we all ; ) We used to have 20mbps and it was terrible, paying for 40 now and it's better but we're only getting 28 max (was 22 but I updated modem to newest firmware and ISPV6). Would really like to get closer to 32 as we have 2 teenagers , etc. I looked at my NID box and it looks like we have 2 dedicated lines? This goes down into the basement into a "tree" and then feeds all the rooms. 3 jacks in bedroom upstairs and 1 on main floor. We only have 1 landline phone, it's on the 1st floor (yes there's a filter) and the router is using 1 of the jacks on 2nd floor (no filter). I would like to hook up the wireless router right at the basement "tree" and give it it's own dedicated hard line and skip all the house wiring. Or, if I'm completely off base what other course of action do you recommend and how to do it? Call CEntlink and pay for a service call? Call some local guy out of the penny adverts? here's a pic of the 2 boxes (black cables on right of phone tree are cable tv Coax I think). house was built in 1999

New 24 month rate for DSL

FYI I just got off the phone with CenturyLink at 866-961-2650. My current 1 year rate is ending next month and I was able to get a 24 month rate of $24.95 to continue with my 40/5 VDSL internet service. I post this so CenturyLink customers are aware that they can call in and get some good rates just by asking. I have the luxury of having multiple broadband choices so I can drop CenturyLink if I can't get a good rate. -- Save water...drink beer! -- 1-800-F1UCK-YO -- Obama...it's junior high school all over again! -- Democrats don't mind raising taxes because democrats don't pay taxes.

Internet Down?

Every couple of days, my internet seems to shut off or something. All the lights on the modem are green but the internet light is off. When this happens, I cannot access the internet wired or wireless, I can't even get to my modem page. So I have to unplug and plug it in again and it starts to work again. Here is what I retrieved from my C1000Z system log 02/14/2016 08:26:24 PM DSL Link Line 0: VDSL2 link down 02/14/2016 08:26:25 PM PPP Link Clear IP addresses. PPP connection DOWN. 02/14/2016 08:26:25 PM PPP Link PPP Clear IP addresses. Connection DOWN. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this issue? I have changed my wifi password and reset everything to default with no avail. Thanks in advance!

Routing Issues

Who would I speak to regarding a routing issue with one of CenturyLink's partners? I have relevant data on a particularly troublesome node that's dropping packets, like mad, but tech support is unwilling to look at it and doesn't even seem to understand the nature of the problem. Basically, there's a particular router/node that is dropping packets and causing major connection issues to a particular website; despite reporting this to customer service, they can't seem to understand that it's an issue in between networks and not one that's an issue on either end (mine or the website's end); the best that they managed to get through, after over an hour and half, was merely changing DNS servers (*sigh*). In any event, is there any techs left here, browsing this forums? I have relevant pingplotter data, I just need to get all information+data to the right person so that CenturyLink can inform their routing partner of the issue (I've already tried contacting their routing partner directly to no avail).

DSL is slow to CONNECT, but transfer speeds appear normal

I've had the 12 mb DSL from Centurylink for the last 10 years. It always worked fine. Connecting to a site was reasonably fast, transfers were adequate, life was fairly simple. Last August we made a trivial change to the account that HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DSL. When all was said and done, we'd had THREE different Centurylink accounts, the service to our address had been cut off, and the billing was TOTALLY screwed up, only NOW, at the end of February, finally being corrected..... Concurrent with all that stupidity, our DSL started being SIGNIFICANTLY slower to connect to almost all sites. Again, once it's connected and TRANSFERRING, it seems ok, but browsing, connecting, general "rummaging around the Internet" is MUCH slower. From what WAS in most cases a 1 - 2 second job of painting a connection page to anywhere from 4 to 6 or 10 seconds or even LONGER. Called Centurylink, eventually got to SOMEONE that was supposed to support the network, wasted a lot of time doing things I'd already done, and got a big shrug... No clue. His recommendation was, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, to POWER CYCLE THE MODEM AT LEAST ONCE A DAY... Which was, and is, ludicrous. BUT, it continues... Speed tests don't show HUGE latency - ran one again this morning, from Minneapolis to a server in Chicago, and got 39ms latency, max download 13.46 mb, upload 780 kb. I'm going to call again, and waste another hour or two, but does anybody in here have any useful (telling me how well YOUR'S works isn't useful) ideas on how best to improve performance OR to get Centurylink to do something to improve it?

Legit emails to Centurylink being marked as SPAM

We have several users here that are having their emails to individuals with either "@centruylink.com" or "@embarqmail.net" email address being marked as SPAM. The error we receive is that "The email has been rejected for SPAM content in the message." I have reviewed the email and there is nothing that would be marked as SPAM. I have sent to requests to Centurylink regarding this and have not had a response. Who or where do I go to resolve this issue ASAP? Thank you.
