Recently I've been going back and forth between Comcast and CenturyLink. I left Comcast in April and signed up for CenturyLink's 60/30 plan, which required a tech install and worked out fine. A few weeks ago I got fed up waiting for a game update to download and decided to cancel CenturyLink and get Comcast's gigabit offering. Then I realized that most things (along with my wifi) can't even come close to gigabit speeds, so now I'm on the 250Mbps plan.
I'm thinking of going back to 60/30 plan with CenturyLink because there's no contract and it's $25 cheaper a month. I called to see if they could just reactivate my service, but apparently I have to wait for an activation date about a week out and the 60/30 plan still requires a tech install, even though I just had it done in April with nothing changed. Is there any way I can get 60/30 again and avoid the $60 tech install? Can I order the 40/5 service (which requires no visit) and have them bump me up to 60/30 once they see my lines can handle it?
TL;DR: I had 60/30 installed in April and required a tech visit. I switched back to Comcast a few weeks ago but now want to come back to CenturyLink's 60/30 service but don't want to pay/wait for another tech install. Is there any way to avoid it?
