I've posted here a couple of times before, but now I'm at the end of my rope on this issue. I switched to bonded DSL and since then my DSL has been intermittent at best for almost a year. Finally got a competent tech out and had all of my inside and outside wiring redone. Got a new NID and a complete rework.
Did not fix anything. At this point, I can safely rule out the problem being internal at my home. I hope at least. It only occurs on one of the bonded pairs. One pair can stay synced for days with 0 CRC errors and even 0 FEC errors while the other racks up thousands and, today, had 24 retrains. Yeah, 24. Yet, CenturyLink tech support (phone and chat) swear that my line is fine and there are no issues. None of the techs or support staff understood what a CRC or FEC was. And when asked to speak to a supervisor or someone who understands more details I get disconnected from the call. Really.
So, aside from submitting an FCC complaint and switching to another ISP (which I have been told is much worse), what can I do? I'm tired of trying to get someone to understand what the issue is. I asked if I could get swapped to a different pair and got told "it won't do anything because nothing is wrong."
I had one idea, but wanted to ask someone who understands this a little more. Is it possible to disconnect the bad pair and change my modem to ADSL2/ADSL2+ mode WITHOUT bonding and force it to only use the one line? Or will that just cause more issues? At this rate, no internet or even Verizon 4G is a much less frustrating option.
Thanks in advance.
