Static IP address with Quantum Fiber...
I'm in the central North Carolina area and scheduled to get new service from Quantum Fiber as part of a move. Everything seems to be scheduled so I thought that I would give them a call to get a static IP address subnet added to my account as I currently have with AT&T GigaPower. My hope was to get it all done in one motion.
I was very surprised to hear from the customer support agent that Quantum Fiber does NOT offer static IP addresses or static IP subnets for residential or business customers. This seems highly unlikely but stranger things have happened.
Can anyone verify that they have been told the same or hopefully instead that you have indeed gotten a static IP address/subnet from Quantum Fiber?
Thanks

replace zycel C3000Z with Linksys EA9500
I'm leasing the Zycel C3000Z. But I would like to return and use a Linksys EA9500. My network is Centurylink fiber 1000/1000 Mbps. I only have internet and no dial tone. Just internet. I don't think I need to worry about VLAN or anything. I believe I just need to get my PPP user name and password. Looking to connect to ONT with the wan port of Linksys EA9500.

[CenturyTel] Centurylink The Greenwave C4000XG
I have Centurylink Fiber 1000/1000. I lease the Zycel C3000A. I called Centurylink and asked being I'm leasing can I swap them. The Greenwave C4000XG has Intel WiFi 6 Gig. I have devices that have WIFI 6 and there is a HUGE difference. They said that they can put in an order to swap but they can not choose what will be sent. So if it's auto-selection I assume another Zycel C3000A would arrive. Anyone did this>

Static IP for IPv6 too?
I have Centurylink Fiber in Central Florida. Centurylink only offers 6RD here (not dual stack). If I sign up for a static IP, will they provide a native IPv6 subnet?

[CenturyTel] Bonded DSL not showing up anymore
Hello,
I used to have bonded dsl at my address at 5002 Howellsville Rd Front Royal, VA 22630 and when i check on the website and with the reps it says i cannot get bonded and its only 10mbps instead of 20mbps. I used to be able to then search small business and then it would show but thats not showing either. I believe there is an issue with the map or something in relation to what my node has available. Also what is centurylinks plan to upgrade these old antiquated lines where i am at, other folks can get 100mb bonded services and more.

[CenturyTel] Centurylink Greenwave C4000XG firmware disparity
Installing new Greenwave C4000XG today. Firmware differs from actual download to what GreenWave says is available. Ver CGX007-01.02.05.12 is now on the modem. Modem says CGX008-01.03.78.00 is available. I click download and it does nothing. I copy the download link and download it manually but version CGX007-01.02.05.22 is downloaded.
Order of upgrade? Need CGX007-01.02.05.22 first then CGX008-01.03.78.00?
Update: Worked with two levels of support via chat. I told them it appears the download button is pointing to the wrong file or place. I looked at the download screen in utilities and then it had N/A for available. All of a sudden my chat dropped. So I rebooted the router and after it came up I was able to update to the newest version. Not sure what they did but I got it updated.

For over a year, Centurylink wires have been laying in my field
Over a year ago a truck knocked down a pole and with it electrical and telephone wiring - wiring that servers many customers. Electric company was on the ball immediately and fixed it. Centurylink sent out someone who basically put a plastic bag around a box and then proceeded to ball all the wire up on my field.
A year later, and you can't get anyone at this joke of a company to do anything - and I'm tired of the wire being in my field. I can't use that part of the field - so it's costing me money.
Who the HELL can you contact to get these morons to come and put their wire back where it belongs? I'm about ready to take the combine and just shred it to bits and then go "oops, didn't see it there".
This isn't a single-serve wire either, like I said it probably is a 50-pair plus wire.

Change from Spectrum cable Internet to Centurylink DSL?
Around here Spectrum's lowest tier (available to me) is the 200Mbps package. That's way more bandwidth (and cost, and tired of the "try to get a new promo" thing) than I need at a 2nd location so thinking maybe to drop Spectrum and go with Centurylink DSL with their $49 for life deal.
I currently have Centurylink POTS and when I put in my address for availability it says up to 60Mbps.
Does that give any indication as to the type of DSL connection?
Any "gotchas" maybe I'm unaware of in consideration of such a change from cable modem to DSL?

Setting up bridge mode with CL 100T
Hi. Newbie here with questions about transparent bridge mode. I have an Airport Extreme router and would like to use it in bridge mode with the CL. Have been to the CL configuration page along with the AE setup page and am confused as to where to begin. Not very tech-oriented.
Can you advise me in a step-by-step approach?
Thank you.

[Embarq] E-Mail Web Access Issues/Changes?
I have been using http://webmail.centurylink.net/ to get directly to the Zimbra provided Web portal for CenturyLink e-mail. (Spam filter catches messages, and I have to mark them 'Not Spam'.) Just in the past couple of days, I get a 500 Internal Server error after the SAML authentication page. But if I go to the infernal centurylink.net page and login, it works. Anyone else seeing this? Any alternate link to get to the e-mail without the base page?

All Fiber Plans Now Unlimited
Hello Everybody,
I’ve just noticed in my market it is showing all FTTH options as now having unlimited data. Only options now are 200/200 for $50 and 940/940 for $65. Is this for all of Centurylinks GPON footprint or just my area? Looking forward to what others might be seeing!

Upgrade for Westell 7500
I currently have DSL service with a Westell 7500 modem. I've been experiencing numerous dropouts and will be upgrading to a new modem shortly. Any suggestions or specific units to avoid? My service is 10mbps (live out in the country and it's all that's available), so I certainly don't need a particle accelerator. ;) Thanks in advance.

Fiber in Mpls - what to expect below the line?
$65 quoted for 940 fiber in Minneapolis, for 12 months, but as usual, plenty of leeway for any total of below-the-line fees: "Additional taxes, fees & surcharges apply."
If you have any specifics about line item dollar amounts or percentage rates tacked on nationally, in Minnesota, or in Minneapolis, please share. Thanks!

What will the sale to "Apollo Funds" mean for us rural customers?
Looks like Lumen formerly known as CenturyLink, plans to sell off a big portion of it's ILEC network to "Apollo Funds." We've known CenturyLink has been shifting their focus to the business/enterprise sector ever since purchasing Level3. With all the Cable Co's offering 1Gbps via DOCSIS 3.1 upgrades, which are pretty much universal now, and the threat of RDOF bringing FTTH to rural areas from the likes of Spectrum and electric co-ops, the telcos either have to upgrade, or die off. Looks like CenturyLink chose the latter. I wonder what this will mean for us rural customers that rely on CenturyLink DSL for internet? People in-town aren't gonna care, they can all get gigabit cable. It appears the buyer is going to upgrade these networks, and I quote, "Our investment will help accelerate the upgrade to fiber optic technologies, and we are excited to have such a high-caliber management team ready to bring faster and more reliable internet service to many rural markets traditionally underserved by broadband providers."
I hope more information comes out later from "Apollo Funds" on their plans with the existing copper plant and what the new offerings will be, and under what brand? If rural CenturyLink DSL got decommissioned without a replacement such as FTTH, people will be left with either Starlink or WISP's, or hope they are in RDOF territory. From the looks of Spectrum's RDOF map, it does appear my road will be included, which will be FTTH (likely RFoG or EPON) from what I've heard. I wonder if these upgrades from Apollo will include rural DSL customers (out in the country), or just upgrading in-town to FTTH? Going from 10Mbps ADSL2+ to two FTTH providers would be nice!
Here is their map, the orange are the states CenturyLink plans to sell off their assets, such as central offices, copper plant, etc. I'm in Ohio so I'm a state that CenturyLink is throwing their hands up with.

CL Fiber Drop in neighborhood
HI! Im currently on my HOA board for our neighborhood and have a quick question, So for about 3 years now CL has deployed FTTH to all the homes on the main roads around my neighborhood but they never moved into the neighborhoods, Back in the start of May of this year they finally dropped and ran fiber into my neighborhood (Even though they came into the main road and stopped about halfway), However that fiber has not been connected yet as you can still see the fiber sticking out of the ground near the main CL distribution box (Sorry don't know the name of it but its a huge dual cabinet box) and none of the smaller amplifiers have been replaced to support the fiber. When checking CL website it still gives us the old DSL speeds and pricing but has a message saying "Faster speeds are coming to your area". Does anyone know how long this process takes before they start connecting everything? Its been 3 months now and I would of surely thought we would of all been connected by now. Or is there a good number I can call to check on the construction status? Everyone here is all on Spectrum and pretty much everyone here has issues due to decaying equipment and Spectrum refusing to replace the hardware. Thanks for any advice you can share!
