Wifi on ZyXEL PK5001Z drops for one laptop

Hi, I'm using a ZyXEL PK5001Z on a CenturyLink ADSL line, with a wifi router connected to it, and have lots of devices connected that work perfectly fine (an Xbox and desktop computer wired, a few tablets and one phone on wifi). However one laptop (a Samsung series 9, upgraded to Windows 10) has the wifi connection that regularly drops. I've tried troubleshooting its software to no avail. While it's often worse when the laptop is far way from the modem, the connection can also drops from 10 feet away. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to further troubleshoot the issue? Thank you for your help!

I have ordered the 40mbps down/5mbps upload plan and so far the speeds are great and I have not experienced any downtime yet... but I have questions that have not been answered since singing up... I live in Rocky Mount VA... and here are my questions... 1)Has anyone in Rocky Mount VA [Virginia]noticed or know for sure if CenturyLink enforces the Caps in this town?[its a rather small town]. Its Vdsl-copper and the backbone of the connection is FTTN[Fiber To The Node]... 2) CenturyLink has stated that their in a TRIAL [ Yakima, Washington] period testing out a data cap with 600gb....when is this gonna replace the 250gb limit??? does anyone know what cities are monitored the most??? I have called and few times already and been on chat support almost daily with this [3-4x a day] but to no avail.... i don't wanna get the lock screen telling me I need a better plan when I have the best plan my area has to offer... has anyone else run into this? what is my best course of action? Thank You, Mike

Eligible for CAF II ? Prepare to get screwed anyway

I sent in a comment/question to the FCC asking about the federal Connect America Fund Phase 2 funding, and us being stuck on 1.5 megabit DSL maximum. I asked whether our remote DSLAM that is 10 miles from the CO will be upgraded to fiber, since we are "in the green" to get the CAF II supported upgrade. Turns out CenturyLink is refusing to upgrade us. Let's hear it for those f*****s at CenturyLink! , [att=1] -- CenturyLink remote pedestal: RUBY, 10 miles west of Gilman, WI http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20533172-Rural-Century-Telephone-remote-terminal-unit http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20530745-Name-of-this-polemount-outdoor-telco-canister

What modem will I get?

Yesterday I upgraded my service from 12mbps/856k to 20mbps/2mbps ADSL2+ since I was upgrading I needed a new modem/router. I needed one anyway as my Motorola 3347 was WAY outdated. I ordered one from Century Link for $99.99 but they couldn't tell me a make or model that I would be getting. I play a lot of Xbox and want to check on a couple settings for the new router but nobody can tell me what I'm getting. Anybody on here have any ideas as to what I'd get? Thanks!

[CenturyTel] CenturyLink Billing

I live in a semi-rural area (in between Belton and Salado TX), and one that's internet challenged. The only service other than satellite that's available to me is CenturyLink, and the top speed is 3mbps - but I deal with it. I have no need for a phone, so the only service I get from them is internet. I noticed on a recent bill that it now includes a fee for "broadband" at one rate, and then another charge for voice. I contacted CL billing, and they said that even though I don't have voice, that's the way they have to bill it. Is that what others are seeing? And on this general topic, are we allowed to ask what others are paying for service? Because I know I'm getting hosed, but with no other options to go with, I grin and bear it.

A good DSL modem without router for CL?

I have a PK5001Z modem with a Linksys 1200AC router. The modem will drop over half speed often to where I can't stream and sometimes not even surf web. Have to always reboot modem. What would be a good modem only being I have a decent router? Or gateway? Which ever I need? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.....

[CenturyTel] Moving from downtown Seattle to Shoreline, CL shows 1.5Mbps DSL

I've been on Centurylink fiber for about 6 months. Invested quite a bit, bought my modem, installation charges, etc. Happy with the service. But now I've moved to Shoreline, and they show 1.5Mbps DSL for my address. I will miss my fiber connection. I just can't accept 1.5Mbps. Am I screwed regarding leaving Centurylink? What should I expect to pay to cancel?

NEW C2100T / setup

Good day everyone, I've upgrade my service from 1.5megs to a new bonded pair connection with the C2100T modem. Now my ping has almost tripled, from an average of 52/70, and now I'm at 152/178 average. also some pages won't load, and even watching youtube videos it will on it's own while playing a video and will automatically jump to the next video. Bare in mind we have terrible lines in my area, and now I feel introducing to bad phone lines just made things worse, and creating more jitter? Maybe I need to setup the Modem in bridge mode ? Thank you all in advance, and have a great Sunday.

ZyXel 1000z Restart Problem

We've been with CenturyLink at this location for about a year and periodically (every week or two) we will lose internet which is always correctable by power cycling the modem. CenturyLink support has told me this is just the way it works. Is there a solution to this: 1. Static IP ($20 per month more) 2. Get a different modem 3. Figure out a way to automatically power cycle the modem. My concern is that if this happens while we are away from home, then I will not have access to my home network, security system, etc. Any other ideas?

Very bad experience with Century Link, seems no solution

When I ordered a high speed Internet service from Century link by phone, a staff told me 40 Mps was available in my area, but this could not be found online. The staff told me the cost for 40 Mps would be Internet service fee $29.95 + some extra cost with tax = about $35, and it was same as 20 Mps. A few days later a technician came and told me the 20 Mps cost $5 monthly less than 40 Mps. I asked him about the inconsistency between his sayings and the customer service's sayings. He told me it was Century Link told him. I trusted him and set my Internet to be installed as 20 Mps. He also told me 40 Mps needs 2 "lines" and 20 Mps needs 1 "line". I did not know what the "line" he referred to and thought that might be related to the $5 extra cost in 40 Mps service. Then when I receive my first bill and it shows I was still charged Internet service fee $29.95 + Internet Cost Recovery Fee $3.99 = $33.94. I don't see any $5 less... Then I check the "Internet Cost Recovery Fee". The Century Link website says it's $3.99 per HSI line. I guess the technician might refer the "line" as HSI line that day, so 20 Mps will have less charge than 40 Mps. Later when I check with the a staff in the billing team of Century Link, the staff says the "Internet Cost Recovery Fee" is same between 40 Mps and 20 Mps, and 40 Mps has same surcharge as 20 Mps. The 40 Mps only needs 1 HSI line. And if I upgrade my service to 40 Mps, there will be no 2 lines. However, for upgrading to 40 Mps, I will get a charge with one more tech install. Also, the staff says there will be no compensation for me given the misinformation provided by the technician. Honestly, I don't really know whether the customer service's saying is true... During online chat, the customer service always put me on wait and answers me slowly. What's more, the staff always does not answering my question directly... My experience with the technician seems better as he told me the distance between my place to the tower when he did the measurement, and my Internet is stable and has the advertised speed during most of the time (although I don't have time to test it with games). Overall, I could only see the communications between the company and its staff are very bad. Whether the technician's saying or the customer service's saying is true, I cannot really tell that...

Thinking about replacing my CL C1000A

I live in Anthem, AZ (north of Phoenix). I'm not in the Country Club so don't have the 1G service available. When I had my CL VDSL2 service installed a little over a year ago I bought the C1000A rather than rent. I pay for 40/5 service but have been getting 50/5 since installation. Because of where the modem is located I use the wireless and router portions as well. There isn't room for additional equipment there. It seems to be working well enough except for the last couple of months I can't login to the web interface. Actually, I can login but can't go to any of the other pages without getting bumped back to the login page. It will usually work for a short while after a reboot. I suspect that heating due to it's location may be a cause. I've seen comments online that seem to support this. Rather than wait till it dies completely and then scramble for a replacement, I'm thinking of replacing it now. Looking for recommendations for a replacement that, maybe, isn't so heat sensitive. I see Best Buy and Frys both have a couple of Netgears starting at $200. I don't see any option on my CL online account to purchase a new modem. Suggestions?

Centurylink Bonded question

Hello Everyone, my first post here. I have been reading as much as I can about dsl bonding and how to. Little back ground about what is going on. Currently where I am living\built a house CL is the only ISP that offers internet at my home. Unfortunately it is 1.5Mbps after countless hours on the phone with them, they finally told me that if I switch to a business account they can run\install multiple connections to my home. If I had them install another connection, could this be bridged\bonded using the correct modem to achieve possibly 3.0 mbps? (I know not much improvement). Or should I just hold out hope that one day they upgrade the speeds here, I can look across the field about a mile away and see my friends house who CL offers 10mbps to him. Thanks for reading!

I know nothing, so give me some detailed instructions. I have had this number for 15 years and do not want to lose it. Also is fax available with VOIP?

Seattle - Fiber Problem

Have the 1gig fiber in N Seattle and it's been working great. Yesterday, however the internet went down. Bounced the Router and ONT, but still nothing. Called the Support and went through a bunch of steps with them and still nothing. Checked the ONT this morning and saw that the WAN light on it was not lit. This makes me believe that there's something upstream that cut my fiber connection. If there was any signal from the fiber line, the ONT WAN light should be active, correct? There's some construction on my street and I have a feeling they might have cut my fiber by accident. Have a tech coming from CenturyLink on Friday morning. So out a couple days which sucks. :P
