I don't know anything about networking. I want to make a Netgear R6300 my new router and just have the C1000Z act as the modem. I tried putting the C1000Z into transparent bridging mode and disabled wireless on that device but managed to make it so nothing worked - not the net gear or the c1000z. I went back to default settings on the c1000z and am back at square one.
My C1000Z has been dropping wifi but connects at 40.1 Mbps when direct connected to the device. Centurylink has been no help at all when I've called twice to troubleshoot. They told me I have no warranty on the C1000Z even though I bought it from them less than a year ago. They told me the line is fine and didn't know what to do about the wireless. The goal each time I call in seems to be for the people in India to get me off the line as quick as possible instead of trying to find a solution to the problem. I know the speeds are there but the device is a piece of crap. I wanted to try this before canceling and going to Comcast. I refuse to buy another C1000Z modem/router all in one. If I can get the existing unit to just be a modem I will try that.
