The 660 Series DSL modem has just been replaced with the ZyXel PK5001Z modem and I am having difficulties with it. Our network is a combination of wired and wireless using an EnGenius AP for the wireless (distance too far to use wireless from the PK5001Z). We need to use the OpenDNS service to block undesired website addresses. When using fixed IP addresses, and using the IP of the modem of 192.168.0.1 for the DNS address of the computers on the network, and having set the DNS in the modem DHCP area to point to the OpenDNS resolver, does not work. Instead I get resolved using the default DNS resolvers from CenturyLink. If I instead use DHCP for the IP addressing of the computers, the DNS resolver works, but the computers only intermittently will acquire a dynamic IP address. Using DHCP works as long as the computers are on the wired network, not on the wireless portion. The only solution I have found is to use fixed IP addressing and explicitly specify the OpenDNS addresses in the DNS position for all the computers on the wireless network. Is this a known problem or am I missing something in the setup?
