Well well, finally after 6 years it looks like CL has finally decided to offer pair bonded service to my address without needing to be a business. Wish it was fiber but I doubt we will ever see that here. So, since about 2013 we have been on 40/5 VDSL2 service using a Actiontec C1000.
Today, it looks like I am in the market to finally set up Pair Bonding using the Actiontec C3000A or the Zyxel C3000Z. Since the cable going directly to the modem is a direct outdoor rated CAT6 patch cable with only two wires being used I assume all I have to do is use another two for the pair bonding. I'm guessing orange/orange white and blue/blue white?

So, since CL requires us to do this ourselves I assume all I have to do is just connect an additional pair of my choice on both ends and in no particular order? Leaving the current pair alone? Since this RJ11 jack uses standard CAT5e/CAT6 color coding I also assume that the colors are correct and in the proper place for the 6P4C RJ11 phone jack? Will I have any issues plugging in a 6P4C jack into a 6P6C port? I already tried it myself with an existing RJ11 and it fit perfectly.
If any ideas or tips before I get started please share... Please. By the way does it matter which Modem I buy for pair bonding? I would love to have just one unit with everything built in (modem + router + wifi AC), but if we need to use our Asus router in bridge mode that will be fine too. My Asus RT-AC66U_B1 AC1750 modem seems old by today's standards, lol. Was thinking of upgrading to the R7000, but it too is old now but still seems to be highly regarded.
Thank you!
