So I'm new to Century Link DSL and so far am not impressed. I am running on their ADSL service with a maximum bandwidth of 7Mb/1Mb. I live in a new construction home built in 2008. There is one line that comes from the CenturyLink (Qwest) service box to a Comtest NID-01 Splitter, Filter. The line splits there to the phone and then to the modem. The modem is a Actiontec GT701D running in transparent bridge mode. There is a Linksys WRT54G as my router and PPPoE authentication.
The problem i am having is very intermittent service. My speed ranges from 0.8Mbps to 8.0Mbps and latency ranges from 44ms to 800ms. This happens both during peak times and off hours. When i run a speed test you can see the speed jump up and down like you are looking at a hear monitor.
Router/modem resets dont help what is going on. Here are some Tracert results and speed test results
