Tips For Bonded VDSL2 Issues?

Upgraded from 40/5 to 80/10 via VDSL2 and a new Actiontec C3000a modem. Was kind of a no-brainer (I thought) at just $45 a month vs $40) Seem to be some quirks, however. I have it in transparent mode to an Asus ac3200 router. Speeds from all wireless devices is notably lower than wired, and even wired is a little slower than going to the modem directly. In theory, it shouldn't make any difference, but it does. Is there any real advantage to transparent mode vs using it as an AP? Is there any real advantage to using the Asus router at all, as far as throughput and speeds goes? I am thinking about either not using the router at all or just having it as an AP so there would be multiple radios available from both the modem and the Asus router. Interesting to note is that with previous modem, a c1000a in transparent mode to the Asus router, I had no such issues-no dropoffs in wired or wireless speeds. It only started with the new modem and VDSL2 bonded service. Any thoughts and tips would be appreciated.
