I noticed today to my pleasant surprise a truck overlashing fiber optic cable on CenturyLink's copper plant down my road today. They are Ohio Line Construction, LLC based out of Loudonville, Ohio. They said they were contracted by CL to run fiber optic to improve the internet. They didn't tell me what type of deployment or plans CL had for the fiber such as FTTP, new remote DSLAMs, Cell tower backhaul, etc. The guy said he anticipated FTTP but it's up to CL and CL didn't give them the details. They told me call CL for details and that CL would be the ones in charge of splicing and running the line to my house. I was tempted to ask them how much to go ahead and run it to my house, but figured they'd have to bury it to do that as if they went aerial, the pole in my yard is owned by AEP. I live a few miles south of Mount Vernon.
