I recently went from service at 40mbps/5mbps to a vdsl2 bonded 80mbps/10mbps. After the speed increase my PS4 gaming ping in most games went up by 50%. I had a ping of 40 or so and now have a ping around 60. I was using a Zyxel c1100z modem+router and now have a zyxel c3000z modem+ router.
Centurylink sent a tech out to double check the install and I’m definitely getting the advertised speed both down and up to the modem. The experience while gaming is very jittery and my speed tests on my PS4 are very inconsistent on the upload speeds ranging from 5mbps all the way down to 200kbps.
My knowledge on networking is very limited and my research is leading me to believe I need to by a separate router, one that can properly prioritize network traffic. Before I spend 200+ dollars on a gaming router can someone help me look at my connection status info and tell me if that is indeed going to help me? I don’t know what connection info to post so please let me know and thanks in advance for your time and help.
