Pair bonded service now single pair-tech rolls Wednesday

After a few months of relative happiness at 20/2 VDSL2 pair bonded service, I've noticed that my speed seemed slower and upon hitting the modem webpage, can confirm that while DSL1 is performing as promised (10/1), DSL2 is "not connected". After troubleshooting on my side, checking connections, cycling power, etc, I called CL and their rep messed around on their end with remote testing before saying that they needed to send a tech out to my neighborhood to check things, including possibly into my home. OK, I get that and if a brief inspection of my 4 month old, 20' run of Cat5e will make them feel better, more power to them. My neighborhood is semi-rural and our telephone lines are tap-ridden and old. THE Question: Are their any special things that I might say or ask the Tech when he gets here to help empower him/make CL get off their infrastructure investment @ss to modernize the lines?
