Has anyone ever tried to get centurylink to switch the WAN connection from PPPoE to IPoE without ordering prism tv?
I have gigabit fiber and unfortunately pfsense (freebsd) isn't able to make use of queues when processing inbound traffic. This results in a maximum of ~750mbps with my Atom C2758 based router. This isn't exactly a problem :) since it's pretty rare I'm even able to saturate that, but the geek in me would like to see ~940mbps :)
Wondering if anyone's tried to contact them to see if they'll switch my provisioning or any suggestions of how to do it? I know they don't support byo routers so but when I first signed up for fiber i got a great support guy that told me exactly what i needed to do to use my own router (VLAN tag, and told me to make sure to get the PPPoE credentials from the installer since the zyzel C1100Z apparently can't unmask the password) so that was pretty surprising :)
