Hello all, I"m truly sorry for this long novel and thank you for your time in advance....
I am having some major issues with CL and I hope that someone here has a solution. We have the CL C1000A, I have it in bridgemode and hooked up to the Asus rt-n56u. Almost every night, the internet drops down to about .5 to 1mbps (we have the 20mbps down and approx 0.800kbps up service). Then, pretty much every morning, the internet completely cuts out. WHen I try to pull up a website, I get that "No internet service" page from my router. I am aware that during some hours the speeds usually drop because many ppl are using the internet but this is a little different.
Now, this was also the case when we just had the CL C1000A router by itself (so no Asus router). Same issues. This has been going on for a couple of years (it wasn't always, meaning EVERY single night/morning like that but I have called and spoken with their Tech Support MANY times). We used to have the ADSL+ service and about 8months ago switched to the VDSL (they gave us a deal for $25.00 a month to keep us since we were actually going to cancel). The other day, one of their technicians came out and he told me that there is some kind of a balancing issue .... this might not make sense but he explained something to me where he needs to bring down the download speed about 1mbps and bring up the upload speed in order to get some kind of balancing in order and, according to him, should fix the issue. Well, it didn't. Very next morning, same issue (I've also had a the C1000A replaced by CL as they thought it could be a bad one).
I'm pretty sure its not my Asus router since I always have to unplug the C1000A and plug it back it and the internet comes back. I've tried unplugging the Asus router and not unplugging the C1000A but the internet would never come back...so that is why I believe that there is nothing wrong with the Asus router. I've tried different outlets....I've bought the Asus router to improve the signal and in hopes that those issues would be fixed but that didn't do anything....I'm not sure what else I could do. I'm not sure if its the C1000A that is jacked up again (even though I just got a new one and same issues as with the previous one...so that can't really be it) At this point, I'm just waiting for DirecTV to go out of contract and we will have to switch to Comcast. I'd like to keep CL if anybody has any suggestions. I was looking into just connecting my Asus router directly with the phone line (so bypass the C1000A) but dones't seem like it's working like that unless I have something messed up. I set up the PPPoE username/password but for some reason it just don't work....does it have to go through the C1000A?
Sorry for the long email and thank you for your time again!
Andy
