Setup: Century Link C1100Z modem/router + bridged Netgear Nighthawk
While I'm troubleshooting a Nighthawk problem that could last at least a week I'd like to turn off the CL bridge thereby turning its Wi-Fi on. I cannot turn the Nighthawk Wi-Fi off for a variety of reasons.
The Nighthawk, when installed a year ago, used the same Wi-Fi SSID and key as the CL.
Currently, both Roku devices are receiving from the Nighthawk.
Questions:
1 If I keep the Nighthawk broadcasting but add broadcast from the CL and change the Roku's to the CL from the Nighthawk, will the Roku's (seeing a different router) require the PITA remote entry of credentials or will the change be more or less transparent to the Roku's and I'd have to do zip with the remote other than select the different router?
2. Instead of turning off the bridging, if I simply turn the CL wireless on doesn't that by definition automatically turn the bridging off?
3. Is there any known problem when bridging a CL device to a Nighthawk (specifically--spec download speed with the CL but not with the Nighthawk)?
