'Evening ladies and gents.
So, after loads of research and a few questions here and there.. well, i have more questions ;0
I am thinking about purchasing a wooded lot to build on. Using a few neighbors' addresses, most qualify for 40 mbps service. This is a former embarq market. Being that the lot i am interested in isnt even registered with the post office, i have not been able to run a qualifier for it. The particular lot i am looking at is a corner lot and does not have a 'nearby' centurylink drop (all lines in this neighborhood are burial). The nearest post is about 300 feet up the road (on the other side of the road). Im not sure if they would decide to shoot a missile under the road and stretch a 6-24 pair for later expansion on my road and for me to tap into it, or if my drop would come directly from there. The said post 300 feet up the road is ~2000 feet from the DSLAM. Regardless, that part isnt up to me. What im getting at is im not entirely sure on where to start qualifying a wooded lot for service.
Moving on from that, i will say that for the past 5 years i have been quite comfortable with my 75/20 connection i have. I could survive on 40MBPS. But the single line tier 40/5 isnt going to cut it for upload. Im going to assume i will end up with a 2500ft loop. For this post, we will just assume my theory is on par. All of my neighbors qualify for 80mbps on business, some for 60. That tells me pair bonded is an option in the area, however that doesnt give me any assurance that i am going to be able to achieve these speeds on a residential account once i get my house built. I read about the 40/20 PB and 60/30 service. However, are these tiers even a known or seen option in a former embarq territory?
I would be devastated if CTL came back and offered me a maximum of 25/2 on a pair bonded ADSL2+ tier. Anyhow, just give me your thoughts on this, i will leave some information below on the DSLAM location, lot location and some screen shots of the cable run locations.
note in the screen shot of the cable run, the circle is the location of the closest ctl post, the triangle is where my utilities would enter (and assume that this is where CTL would either extend to, or run my line to). All of the neighbors in the 'block' of land the lot is on, qualify for 80 meg for biz and 40MB for residential. The houses on the other side of the street are fed from posts behind there houses, and which are the customers that qualify for 60 on the business site.
DSLAM address is 98 N OLIVIA DR AVON PARK, FL 33825
LOT address is 426 S Dickey Rd (i lolzd at the street name but hey, whatever.)
Thanks for reading my lengthy posts guys!
