I just got off the phone with a Centurylink rep to cancel my DSL since I'm switching. I told her the main problem is the upstream speed of my speed tier, 7M/896K, is getting too slow and that's the fastest available. I've recently been transferring more data upstream and it's getting annoying. She mentioned fiber, and I said I can't see my neighborhood getting this for a very long time since most of the fiber activity is not near me.
Then she claimed they plan to have the entire state connected to fiber by this year. I was shocked. I asked if she means they're running fiber to neighborhood nodes, and she said no, directly to residences.
Does anyone else find this completely unbelievable?
