So the apartment we moved into temporarily is managed by CL, so had to take their DLS for internet. From the beginning (a week now) although results from speedtest.net were fine, normal internet usage like browsing, gaming, Netflix, Pandora, etc comes to a crawl, sometimes even timing out. Im a network guy by trade, so did quite a bit of troubleshooting...connected directly to the modem instead of my own router, reset everything, turned QoS off, tried CL, Level3 and Google DNS to no avail. Ping tests to Google and Yahoo (1000 pings to URL) came back with about 2-4% packet loss. Ping tests from desktop to modem were 100%.
There have been times streaming a non bandwidth hungry music service like Pandora will make it start buffering. All these tests were done with me only on the network.
Ive attached info from the modem status as reference. Although the CRC's are of some concern, the RS FEC Corrections ARE a concern. Now, my understanding with FECs are Far Side Corrections, meaning the head end has to correct corrupt packets that are incoming. Is this correct? And of so, I think that may the the cause of my issues.
