I'm considering switching from Comcast to CL for both TV and Internet but want to understand the hardware and how things would get connected, primarily because I live in an apartment and am utilizing the in-wall CAT 5 wiring for my own network.
The building I live in (downtown Minneapolis) is only about a year old and wired for fiber (CL indicates gigabit available at my address).
So inside a closet there's a box that CAT 5 and cable lines currently come into (both from outside the building and to each room). I currently have my cable modem and dedicated router connected in the closet and then use the ethernet to the other rooms so I have direct ethernet to my TV's and office. The cable from Comcast is split out there as well to the other TV jacks.
Does CL hardware work similarly? I also would really like to keep using my ASUS router and thought I read somewhere that I could skip purchasing the CL modem?
