how quickly are changes reflected in a bill?

on the 31 of last month i chatted with centurylink online and asked to cancel my internet. they said they would and gave me a confirmation number. the other day i recieved a bill that was sent a day after i canceled and it said i still have internet service with them. that plus the fact that i still haven't received anything to send my modem back makes me wonder if they never canceled anything. how soon after canceling does it reflect on the bill. is a bill sent out the next day too soon? i read somewhere that it may take 5-10 days to get the sticker so i'm still in that window. i would get online to see if the balance has changed to reflect the cancelation but my login information will not be accepted, my email isn't accepted even though i received an email from century link on the 3rd of this month (tried multiple times even copy and pasted the email from my email's web page to make sure i got it EXACTLY RIGHT). they won't even recognize my account number. all this crap is making me more and more glad i'm getting rid of this companies internet. unfortunately i have to use their phone service for my home's security system or i would get rid of them all together.
