hello, searched this forum and found that this is a semi common problem and i'm hoping that i can get some help with my DSL issue here.
First off this is not the first time this has happened, first time it did was about 3 weeks ago, a tech came out and replaced the modem and worked like a charm till about 24hrs ago.
Since then about every 10-15 min (sometimes every 2-5) my DSL modem will just restart (like i have pulled the power cord out and plugged it back in). As far as i can tell nothing specific that i'm doing seems to be the cause. Sometimes i'm watching youtube, other times i'm playing a Steam game, others i'm just browsing the web.
I have started keeping the modem page up with the connection status so i can keep an eye on it.
After searching thru various forums and coming across this one, i saw this post (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29753676-CenturyTel-Frequent-Disconnects-with-CenturyLink), and saw that the poster had mentioned about turning on the DMZ, so i gave it a try.. and POOF, no more restarting modem. Which i thought was kind of odd, i thought maybe it was just pure luck, so i turned if off and then the modem started restarting again.
So my question is how are the two related, and how can i make it so i don't have to have my computer DMZ'd to get my modem to not restart.
I have the PK5001Z model.
These are with DMZ on (so i can make this post lol).
