I just moved to Parowan, Utah and called Century-link (the only internet service available?) and they politely told me that all that is available is 1.5Mbps DSL.
Well, I am a heavy online gamer (wired if possible) and my wife streams Netflix and Hulu (Wifi) on her Apple TV usually when I am gaming and I would just like to know exactly what my best route to go with this service would be.
I am primitive in my knowledge of routers / modems, but am not afraid to get into the nitty-gritty if that means a faster connection.
I've done some browsing here on DSL Reports and there's a thread here similar to my issue: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29656752-century-link-dsl-what-s-the-best-modem-router-for-gaming
I can grab a Zyxel PK5001Z off Ebay for $30 and "Bridge it" (I don't even know what that means, or why to do it) with the instructions here: http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/modem-pk5001z-adv-bridging-q.html
But I'm concerned because Centurylink writes: "Support for this function is offered for CenturyLink business customers only."
Anyways, I'm sure some of you have made 1.5 DSL work for you and I haoe we can make it work for us for we're going to have to:)
Thanks.
