I currently have CenturyTel 12Mbps DSL package. I did a speed test and got 12 down and .8 upload. Using the Q1000 modem/router. All of this runs good most of the time, no complaints.
As I'm moving more towards cutting the Dish cord, have noticed latency when using Netflix on two different TV's. So I went and got the new Linksys Router (no model number with me, the 250.00 fast one).
Since learned that it may not make a difference due to DSL speed. Called CL yesterday and I can upgrade to the 20Mbps for 5.00 more a month plus I need a new modem/router.
Before I jump ( and my other consideration is going to Charter for internet only), is the expense of the new modem (99.00 plus any other charges) worth it? Would the new router (still unboxed) really make a difference? Most of the time it is just me there, sometimes the grandchild on the 2nd tv.
Any other considerations I should know?
