I was hoping if I can get some help with my home system setup...I have the Actiontec c1000a modem/router since we have Centurylink. It is connected in the formal living room since the upstairs living room (where the entertainment center is and we spend all the time up here) does not have the telephone jack so I have to hook it up down in the other room. I have it hooked up to the Asus rt-n56u router so that I get great connections and it works wonderfully. The wifi is turned off on the Actiontec and it is hooked up with the ethernet cable to the Asus router. I'm very new to this so I was proud of myself for even being able to set all that up and chose the different channels on the Asus router and set up the dual bands and all that. We have an Apple TV in the upstairs room which I would like to hook up directly to the Asus router...so my question is, is there a way to set up the Actiontec down in one room but have the Asus router set up in the other room...kind of like a repeater would work...Somehow where the Asus router would connect to the Actiontec modem/router wirelessly but I would want my internet to still connect through the Asus router. Only reason why I want to do this is so that I can connect the Apple TV to the router directly with the ethernet cable so I have a better connection.
