Hello,
I ran into a discovery that the configuration you may have been using all along with your CenturyLink-supported modem will not necessarily work with a non-CL-supported modem, and that you may have to think outside the box.
Thanks to Taz, I found that even though ATM (VPI/VCI) is what all of CL's support people (5 in my case) tell you that you MUST use in my ZIP code (for supported modems), that that is not necessarily what will work or what you have to use for non-CL-supported modems.
Switching over to PTM (and abandoning the assumption you must use VPI/VCI which every tech I spoke to in the past two weeks told me must be used in my area) is what allowed my VSG1432 to finally connect to the internet after pulling my hair out for two days (I have some left, hopefully the rest will grow back).
I'm sitting here now on my laptop with the modem using PTM...before I could never get an internet connection on ATM with this brand and model of modem.
