In a previous thread I have some questions about century link routers modems smart TVs blah Blah blah lol. I ended up returning the samsung Smart TV and for a little bit more money I was able to get a bigger TV and the Apple TV. Absolutely no complaints at all with my upgrade. I did realize that the appleTV really needed to be hardwired with an ethernet cable. The Wi-Fi just wasn't cutting it when watching HD movies from crackle or Netflix.
Now the question that I have and could use some help with is I purchased the century link compatible modem at Best Buy, C1000A. One thing I have noticed is whenever I am using my AppleTV the Internet on the iPhone or iPad is extremely slow. I do have century links 10 MB download. Is this specific modem not capable of handling several connected devices at one time?
I have read time and time again that you are better off with a separate modem and router versus having an all-in-one unit.
I still have a few days left before my grace period Runs out for when I cannot return the C1000A. With that said, which routers and modems would you guys recommend from Best Buy to best suit my needs?
I know on my C1000A the specs are Up to 300 Mbps data transfer rates with Wireless-N. Does this data transfer rate really matter when you have an ethernet hardwired into an Apple TV and you're trying to use your iPhone or iPad for the wireless part? Some of the modems I have seen show 300 600 900 and 1200 Mbps data transfer rates. Is this something I need to look for?
