[Embarq] pk5001z firewall times out ssl certs

I ping the addresses and they stop at the modem IP ... never had this problem with my linksys router, but now with new pk5001z, many SSL web cert sites will not load, all say timeout, no matter what browser. rebooting the router lets me in for a day, then no go again how do I set my firewall to allow ssl web certs and stop these annoying timeouts
