So...I bought a new house back at the end of March, and our only option for internet (other than satellite) is CenturyLink (formerly Embarq territory). The house was new construction in a brand new neighborhood. I signed up for the highest speed available, which was 10 Mbps. So far, the service has been excellent - fairly consistent speeds right at 10 Mbps, and only one outage (that I'm aware of) that occurred during a huge storm that knocked out power and everything. No really major problems/issues. I signed up for internet only - no phone or Prism.
Tonight I was playing around on the CenturyLink web site like I was a new customer and put in my address. When I select either internet only, internet plus phone, or internet plus Prism it shows a top available speed of 10 Mbps. If I select a triple play bundle of internet plus phone plus Prism it shows a top available speed of 20 Mbps. Why would I only be able to get 20 Mbps with a triple play? If I can get it with a triple play, shouldn't I also be able to get it with internet only or a double package? Doesn't make sense to me.
We had AT&T U-verse at our old house, and all speeds were available as standalone or with any bundle - so if AT&T could do it, I see no reason why CenturyLink can't do it.
