PC requirements for 1gig service.

Hello! I got gigabit from CL last week and immediately had speed issues. I ended up reinstalling Win10 and was able to get speeds up to 900 down. I had already scheduled a tech so I just let them come anyway and they suggested I get a 3rd party router if I wanted to see my WiFi speeds increase as well. I decided on a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 because it supports some additional features. I swapped the routers and everything went downhill. Even after switching back to the CL router I can't seem to get my speeds back up to 900+. I've got two PCs here that are very close in specs, my brother's is a bit better will get speeds around 850-900, while mine only gets 650. I started to wonder if there were minimum specs for taking full advantage of 1G service. Both PCs are running ASUS mobo with i5 chips and EVGA Nvidia GPUs. My Bother has 8gb RAM while mine has 12, this is the only spec where my machine is a bit better. edit: I should also mention that I'm getting these speeds from speedtest. I was also getting 900+ at DSLreports, but now both machines test around 150-200 on DSLr. I'm really lost on what to do or even what I should expect. With Cable I always had roughly the right speed, this Fiber thing is driving me crazy being on the phone with "tech support" from both CL and Netgear for hours... Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
