Last Thursday (Aug 1) out CenturyLink service failed, and at first the Techs said it was due to a power outage(s). Most likely caused by Alliant Energy doing a lot of work on the utility poles along the road near the CL boxes and my apartment complex. Since we didn't get service back restarting the modem, and the Techs thought everything was working fine on their end and Service call was scheduled for Saturday afternoon (Aug 3). The Tech called up Friday morning and repeated that the outage was caused by a power outage and asked us to once again cycle the modem, and to let him know if it worked. It didn't.
Saturday afternoon comes around and the Tech doesn't show up, nor does he call as to why. I call Tech support again and the issue now is on their end, so they didn't won't be sending out techs until its resolved, but that they thought the issue would be fixed by Monday (Aug 5), but also scheduled a service call for Monday (mid-morning). So this morning I call tech support again to try and get an update about what was going on, since there was still no service. The first one I talked with could only say that the issue was on their end and was being worked on. Since the issue had not be fixed yet, the scheduled service call would not show up again. They also mentioned that they hoped to have the issue would be resolved by 7pm Monday evening, and if it was not, I was to call back and schedule another service for Wednesday (the soonest they could get anyone out apparently).
So 7pm comes and goes without service being restored, and I call up tech support again. The tech I talked with this time got a bit more information for me about what was going on. Apparently the DSLAM box up the hill from the apartment complex (right in the path of all the work that Alliant Energy has been doing) failed Friday night (Aug 2) and they needed to order in replacement parts. According to the information he got, the CL techs were currently working on getting the new parts installed and the best case scenario would be to have service restored by 10pm Monday night, or by 7pm Tuesday.
Since the DSLAM boxes were just up the hill from where I lived, I could step outside and look. No trucks were there, and when I drove up to where they were, none of the boxes looked new (I'm guessing whatever was replaced or being worked on was inside and didn't need an entirely new box).
TLDR; Is there any kind CL rep who could let us know what is going on and when our service could be restored? Thanks.
