80/10 to 140/20 questions

It's been a while since I've been to the forums so forgive me if my questions have been answered already. I speak with sales every 6 months to see if I qualify for a speed upgrade. Few years back I was offered 80/10 bonded from 10/2. Now i'm being offered 140/20 bonded for 5$ more than what i'm currently paying, which is a no brainer. But after placing the order I was told I had to get a new modem before service could be upgraded, which was strange since I have a c2100t and I was told that when they originally installed it that it was good for up to around 300mbps. I tried to argue with the guy for a bit, even sending him the spec sheet but he kept insisting that I would need a new modem. So my questions are as follows: Do I actually need a new modem to qualify for 140/20 or is he just reading from a screen? Are there any foreseeable issues going to 140/20 from 80/10? Is there a way to speed up this process? (10/2 to 80/10 took almost a month)
