Hello,
I have been working with CenturyLink for the last few weeks on getting to the bottom of my speed issues where at certain times of day I willl see the download speeds drop to 40Mbps (I am a 1Gb customer). I had a tech come out to my apartment and confirm that my issues are congestion-related so as a techy I am trying to better understand where exactly the bottleneck exists. From what I have seen of the utility room in my building we have several MDU ONTs where they can have up to 4 units per (the Cat5e is then patched to the appropriate unit from there). Is the 2.5Gb/1.25Gb speeds associated with a GPON configuration split at the ONT layer or is that further upstream on a per OLT basis? Escalations is still working on connecting me with a local engineering resource to dig into this deeper however I’m trying to see if I am more likely fighting a noisy neighbor for bandwidth or if the issue lies upstream from the ONT. I am happy to provide my building address for any CL folks on here that could dig into the configuration further.
Thanks,
Dan
