I hope that people who run Centurylink read this and think about it. I live 250ft from a DSLAM fed by high capacity fiber:
1) I am on 40/20 now. If I want to upgrade to 60mbps, only 5mbps upload is available. This is the only upgrade option if I don't want CL tech to come to install.
2) CL treats customers like all of them are idiot, believing that only their techs can do installation of 80mbps and up correctly. Actually a lot of their customers are well qualified and capable of doing self installation of the bonded pairs. There should be an option for self-installation for those who can do it. CL could waive all of its responsibilities beyond the NID just like in case of the phone.
3) The new promotion seems to be a move in the right direction, but many policies are still frustrating customers and CL has no clear benefits from the practice.
I have cable available up to 1gbps, but want to stay with CL for some legacy reasons.
