This isn't broadband related, but last week Centurylink sent me a postcard saying they were going to add a new $2.00 per line recurring charge on my long distance plan. I called their customer service and the agent said it was a new tax by Washington State. I contacted the WA department of revenue and they haven't heard about any new telephone tax. I sent an e-mail back to Centurylink asking to clarify what the tax is for (it hasn't shown up on my bill yet so I don't have the official name for it). Has anyone else seen this?
