CL Actiontec C1000A modem doesn't route?

I just received an Actiontec C1000A modem from Century link to replace my previous M1000 preparatory to them upgrading to VSDL. The M1000 didn't have wireless, so I have the DSL modem connected to a Linksys router with WiFi. I thought I'd try the WiFi on the new modem and it worked fine -- except that the computer connected to it via WiFi can't see any of the other computers on the network. I happened across a posting somewhere from a few years ago that seemed to indicate that was a fault of the modem itself: it wasn't designed to route. Can anyone confirm if that is indeed the case? Possibly relevant, possibly not, is that when I run the diagnostic test it says ethernet fails (everything else passes), but as far as I can tell it's working perfectly.
