CL is offering me an upgrade from 12mbps to 20 for a 3 year price lock at the same rate I pay for 12, but I have to swap to a new modem and they have to send a tech out which I assume means doing something to the line. I've read a lot of stories on here over the years of people in rural areas being offered speed upgrades that the infrastructure in their area can't actually handle, so I'm a little leery of this. Can I consult line stats or something to determine if this is a good idea on my end, or should I just roll the dice? I'm worried the quality of my connection will go to hell and that downgrading/fixing it will prove a massive PITA.
