Just to keep it short and simple:
Signed up for Verizon's unlimited plan with two lines, one for me and one for my wife. We will use our smartphones as hotspots to access the Internet on our laptops. I understand the limitations and am good with them.
Once Verizon service was confirmed, I call Centurylink to cancel my phone, unlimited long distance and 2 -3mb dsl lines. I'm told there will be a fee for ending my contract early. I say I've never signed up for a contract. The rep says I did. I ask to speak to her supervisor. The supervisor says I did as well. They are, of course, lying, but since I don't have any evidence to the contrary, I guess I am stuck paying an extra $200. After 20 years of uninterrupted service this is how Centurylink treats people. I was going to try to fight it but realize that they just want to excise that last bit of money from me. I was truly pissed earlier this afternoon right after it happened but realize that it's better just to put them in my rear view mirror. Centurylink sucks, that's my unbiased opinion.
If you are thinking about dealing with them...RECORD your conversations.
