Hello all!
A few months ago I had CenturyLink fiber optic service installed at my house in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We're pretty pleased with it so far. But there's something I want to do and I don't have enough know-how to figure out if it's possible and what to buy to make it work.
So here's the setup. The fiber line comes into the house in a downstairs room. There it goes into... I don't know what to call it. Is it the ONT? It's the black box with the brand name Calix on it. Someone help me out there. Then an Ethernet cord comes out of that and goes to the wireless router (Zyxel C1100Z). The Ethernet to the router got strung around the outside of the house and into the upstairs living room with the initial install.
Now I am turning the downstairs room (where the ONT is) into my home office and I want a wired connection. And I'd rather not run the Ethernet all the way back down there since the ONT is right there. Can I add a second router to the ONT? I see there are more ports on it. It doesn't even need to be wireless. If so, how do I do that? What should I buy?
Thanks in advance for your help!
