Real prices and real caps?

I can't believe I am saying this but I am considering getting DSL again. Really I am just tired of paying $100/mo for cable internet so I capped our router at 5mb for the past week so see if we could deal with the speed... along with some creative QOS I think we can deal with this. So I know I can get service for $30/mo for 12 months it looks like I might be able to get $35 for 24 but I can't seem to order 24mo online. The website says we will get 7mb but we are about 6 blocks from the CO so I am betting we would get over provisioned which would be nice. I have done some reading, it's been US West kinda years since we had service so my hope is the awesome forum members might have some ideas on these questions... What is the real cost of "Naked" DSL after the promo period? It looks like there is a 250gb soft cap, is that all it is right now? Recommendations on a modem to use in pass thru mode? Like I said I am doing QOS so I want to auth with my Edgerouter and not end up in a double NAT. How bad are the below the line fees? I understand the sediment I am best sticking with cable but I really want a long term price lock and no stupid bartering, I have 0 use for a home phone. I don't want to bundle. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!
