I'm helping a buddy out with a Centurylink install. Package is supposed to be 40 down, 5 up. Status page for the Technicolor C1100T information is pasted at bottom.
Installation was on Monday, IP has changed daily so there has been regular loss of sync. First tier one rep last night tried to "fix" the problem by rebooting. So did the automated system on the telephone this morning. We got disconnected after calling support this morning so I tried chat, and wasted 45 minutes of my life with someone who wouldn't answer direct and simple questions, like whether or not it was possible to just lock the sync rate at a lower level so there was a reliable connection.
I know it's possible, you just have to be talking to someone of the right tier to have it done. Meanwhile, my friend is trying to get a couple gigabytes of family video to edit, and the connection isn't stable enough to support the transfer.
Is there a tech who peruses these forums who can lock the sync rate lower? Also, is there a way to put the gateway into bridge mode? I found links for other Technicolor models that suggest going to the Advanced Setup > WAN Settings > and changing PPPoE to Transparent Bridging, but I suspect that something would have to be done on Centurylink's end, and I've yet to reach someone who has that capability.
Advice is appreciate; mine was for my friend to go back to Cox like he had last year, but he wants to try to make this work.
