Well, K&J Telecommunications came by and installed the fiber and 12 port tap on the pole behind my house.
Curious: Are they wiring the taps 1:1 with the fibers in the trunk line? Otherwise, why in gods name did they lay a 96 fiber cable, apparently home-running to AURRCOMA CO. If I'm right that it goes from 11th ave to 7th ave, theres only 74 houses on what is a 96 fiber line.
I was under the impression that the entire thought behind PON was shared fibers and splitters, and (assuming this isnt 1:1 and is instead 1:12) should have a greater amount of people on fewer fibers...
Do the Corning taps actually split the signal optically, or are they fed 1:1?
Am I seeing a 12-fiber, or 1-fiber, screw on connector here?
