[CenturyTel] C1000A and DIR-655 Router, Can I do this?

Today, we got a call from John at CenturyLink who is trying to save us some dough. We have two lines, one is/was dedicated as a fax line for many years but we really do not need it (savings $25). Also, last year we got a secondary modem (PK5000, $5.95 Lease) put in my room so I could run my ebay business better without all the interference from Dads streaming and my brothers streaming etc. Well a few months ago we finally got our neighborhood upgraded to 12 mbps but have not upgraded our service yet. We are still on 1.5 service for the longest time. My question is if we get rid of my PK5000 modem, saving us the lease and monthly that will save $52.53 per month, plus the Fax line savings of around $25. Can we upgrade our C1000A to 12Mbps and I run a 100 foot ethernet cable to my Business computer desktop (has no wireless) and attach it to my DIR-655 (as it is now), then attach the Business computer to my DIR-655 router like it is now with the PK5000? I have a Nexus 7 (wireless n) that I use mainly for business reasons, and a Laptop (both wireless N and connected to the DIR-655+PK5000). However, I would like to keep my precious DIR-655 if possible so can I connect it directly to the C1000A and not interfere with their (rest of family) wireless/wired routing. There is one wired connection (Dads Dekstop) currently to the C1000A, plus 3 or 4 other wireless devices (brothers) connected to it. I am the only one who does not connect to the C1000A because I have my own modem/router (PK5000) and internet connection on a completely different phone line (the old Fax Line). OR, should I just get rid of both my PK5000 and DIR-655, and get myself a really good Intel Dual-Band Advanced-N PCIe card and just connect to their C1000A? Distance is somewhere around 72 feet approximately and going through several walls. I do not know what to do and I am authorized to make changes to the service when ever I want. My thinking is, ONE 12 Mbps shared connection would be better than TWO 1.5 mbps services in the house. lol Please help me decide what to do. Thanks SkOrPn
